He stated that the province has attracted over CAD 28 billion in investment related to gasoline and electric vehicles in the past three years, making it the only place in the world with six major automobile manufacturers.

The automotive industry contributes approximately CAD 16 billion annually to Canada's Gross Domestic Product (GDP), making it one of Canada's most important export industries. The automotive industry also provides employment for nearly 500,000 Canadians. The Canadian government is promoting the country's role as an important participant in global electric vehicle battery manufacturing and electric vehicle applications. According to the Canadian government's emission reduction plan, the country aims to achieve zero-emission vehicles for all newly sold small cars and light trucks by 2035.
