Canadian International Autoshow Profile
The Canadian International Autoshow, established in 1974, holds immense influence locally. Highly regarded by industry professionals, the event showcases the latest industry trends, presenting all relevant new products and concepts.
Continuing the trend of recent editions, electric vehicles (EVs) are increasingly becoming the main focus for major automakers. At the Canadian International Autoshow, hundreds of models from 44 global automotive brands are displayed across an exhibition space exceeding 60,000 square meters.
Major automakers are widely showcasing their EV models. The exhibition features an indoor EV test drive track, allowing visitors to experience driving electric vehicles from multiple brands. Exhibitors also present technologies such as charging stations, batteries, and clean energy solutions. In addition to a wide range of new sedans, SUVs, and trucks, attendees can also admire numerous luxury sports cars, vintage vehicles, and concept cars on display.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford, who attended the opening ceremony, described the auto show as a grand celebration of automotive technology and innovation. He noted that over the past three years, Ontario has attracted more than CAD 28 billion in investments related to internal combustion and electric vehicles, making it the only province in the world to host all six major automakers.
The automotive industry contributes approximately CAD 16 billion annually to Canada's GDP, making it one of the country's most vital export sectors. It also provides employment for nearly 500,000 Canadians. The Canadian government is actively positioning the country as a key global player in EV battery manufacturing and electric vehicle adoption. Under the federal emissions reduction plan, Canada aims to ensure that 100% of new light-duty cars and trucks sold will be zero-emission vehicles by 2035.
