SOFEX Jordan (Special Operations Forces Exhibition) Profile
SOFEX Jordan is one of the most authoritative defense and security exhibitions in the Middle East. Officially opened to the Chinese market in 2018, it has attracted significant attention for Chinese manufacturing, represented by companies such as Hytera, Hewei Yongtai, Qingzhun Technology, and Pufan. It serves as an ideal platform for international delegates seeking to enhance national security and witness the latest products and services in their respective fields.
Held biennially, the exhibition enjoys strong support from His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan. The world-renowned "Warrior Competition" special forces contest is hosted by the King. Notably, China's Armed Police "Tianjian" Commando Unit won the championship in 2017, while the "Falcon" Commando Unit secured third place. Unlike many other defense exhibitions in the Middle East, SOFEX Jordan places a strong emphasis on special operations and counter-terrorism.
SOFEX Jordan is divided into four main sectors: land, sea, and air defense & military equipment; police & security equipment; military communications & IT technology; and multi-purpose vehicle systems & equipment. Exhibitors will gain tremendous opportunities to promote their brands to a global audience of industry professionals.
Jordan covers an area of approximately 90,000 square kilometers with a population of around 10 million (as of 2017), 98% of whom are Arab. Among Middle Eastern nations, Jordan is considered a stable haven, though it currently faces counter-terrorism pressures. The country's annual defense budget is approximately USD 1.5 billion, sourcing military products from the United States, Russia, the UK, and others, with substantial military aid currently provided by the US. Jordan maintains friendly relations with China and is a key partner in the Middle East. The Chinese government is currently developing the "Dragon City" project in Jordan, marking China's second such initiative in the region after Dubai, UAE.
Prominent exhibitors include industry giants such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, KIG, Jordan Telecom, Royal Jordanian, GICAT, Renault, SERT, FLIR, Otokar, FNSS, Rohde & Schwarz, Boeing, and Airbus. The event is accompanied by numerous matchmaking sessions, seminars, and high-level forums. (Copyright belongs to Jufair. Unauthorized reproduction is prohibited.)
