Poseidon Greek Maritime Expo Expo Profile
Poseidon Greek Maritime Expo is one of the largest exhibitions in the world's shipbuilding and maritime industry, serving as a bellwether for the global shipbuilding industry. Founded in 1969, it has attracted widespread attention from the international shipping community under the strong support of the Greek government, drawing many government officials from various countries to lead delegations to participate.Since 2014, the Greek Maritime Exhibition has been relocated to the larger Athens Metropolitan Expo Center, which is more complete in facilities and more convenient in transportation, further promoting the development of the exhibition.
The total exhibition area of the Poseidon Greek Maritime Expo was 64,000 square meters, with 1,059 participating companies from China, South Korea, Japan, Italy, Spain, Germany, Russia, the United States, Brazil, Australia, etc., and a total of 35,700 participants.
Located between the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe, Greece is a strategic point. The long history and bright prospects of Sino-Hellenic maritime cooperation have been evident since the signing of an agreement between COSCO and Greece in 2008, granting COSCO the right to operate part of the Port of Piraeus for a total investment of over 4 billion euros. Piraeus Port is an important commercial port on the Mediterranean coast, allowing goods to reach other European countries without the need for time-consuming detours.
In June 2014, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang met with Greek Prime Minister Samaras, witnessing the signing of trade and investment agreements worth $4.6 billion between the two countries. China will also assist Greece in building the Port of Piraeus, aiming to transform this southern Greek port into a major container transshipment hub in the Mediterranean region. COSCO has already operated large terminals at this port and is one of its major customers. As a gateway to Central and Eastern European countries, Greece will strengthen its relationship with China's large market, radiating to neighboring countries, and also becoming an important geopolitical foothold for China. The frequency of China's maritime routes to the Mediterranean will also increase.
Greek shipowners are the driving force behind the global shipping industry, maintaining the world's largest fleet size. They are important clients for major shipyards globally. Greek shipowners place great importance on equipment manufacturers and service providers. According to the latest international regulations, Greek shipowners invest billions of dollars in ballast water systems, atmospheric emission control, MRV regulations, and related information technology and service support. This massive market is presented before exhibitors at the Greek Posidonia International Shipping Exhibition (Posidonia).
