The FAW TOKYO—Japan’s Tokyo Textile, Apparel, Fabric & Accessories Exhibition—is the country’s only specialized trade show dedicated to textiles and fabrics. Each year, it draws designers, distributors, brand owners, importers, and product developers from across Japan, who come to source fabrics and accessories for the upcoming season. Buyers either import directly or commission overseas manufacturers to produce their materials.

The FAW TOKYO is part of the Fashion World Tokyo exhibition series. The most recent edition spanned 80,000 square meters, with 1,250 exhibitors hailing from China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Dubai, the United States, Italy, Germany, France, and other regions, attracting over 45,000 visitors.

Due to high domestic manufacturing costs in Japan, light industrial products such as apparel, footwear, and sporting goods are largely reliant on imports. China’s distinct regional advantages and superior product quality give it a competitive edge over lower‑end manufacturers in Southeast Asia. As a result, the FAW TOKYO has become a key platform for Chinese companies seeking to enter Japan’s fashion market, while also serving as an unmissable event for industry professionals.
