AORN: The American Association of Nurse Anesthetists’ Annual Convention and Exhibition Profile
The Association for the Advancement of Surgical Technology (AORN) is the world’s premier surgical conference and exposition. Founded in 1949, AORN is the largest professional association dedicated to perioperative care, with a mission to enhance patient safety and optimize outcomes during surgery and other invasive procedures by providing practical support and professional development opportunities for perioperative nurses.
“AORN” stands for “Association of PeriOperative Registered Nurses,” or the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses in the United States. By developing perioperative practice guidelines, continuing education programs, and clinical resources, AORN collaborates with perioperative registered nurses, healthcare institutions, and medical‑related companies to establish best practices that improve patient outcomes.
Under the conference theme “Harmonious Care—Key to Safety,” experts shared insights on critical areas such as hospital operating room capacity planning, training for newly hired OR nurses, optimal ambient conditions—including music and temperature—in the operating room, effective management of visitors and temporary staff, family involvement in perioperative care and progress in EARS implementation, standardized surgical safety checklists, occupational safety measures for OR personnel, and appropriate work hour limits, among other topics, fostering a lively and engaging atmosphere.
The event featured multiple showcases by leading industry partners! The AORN Conference brought together over 8,000 perioperative nursing professionals from around the globe. The AORN President warmly welcomed and introduced key leaders and teams in perioperative care from countries worldwide.
