The Value of Participating in the U.S. Analytical and Biochemical Exhibition

  • Messe München’s Flagship Laboratory Exhibition for Entering the North American Market: analytica USA represents the first stop in North America for the globally leading analytica brand series under Messe München. Hosted by Messe München, analytica Munich has been a benchmark exhibition in the fields of analytical, biochemical, and laboratory technologies since its founding in 1968. Its debut in North America provides exhibitors with a strategic gateway to connect with the U.S., the world’s largest laboratory market.
  • A One-Stop Trade Platform Covering the Entire Industry Chain: The exhibition encompasses all segments of the laboratory technology value chain, including analytical instruments, biotechnology, and diagnostic equipment. From chromatography, mass spectrometry, and spectroscopy to laboratory automation, LIMS data management systems, and sample preparation solutions, everything is showcased in one place. Exhibitors and visitors span multiple application areas—including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, food testing, environmental monitoring, and academic research—forming a complete industrial ecosystem.
  • Precise Access to Decision-Makers in the North American Laboratory Sector: With approximately 190,000 laboratories in the U.S., accounting for 25% of the global laboratory and analytical technology market, the exhibition’s location in Columbus, Ohio—situated in the heart of the U.S. Midwest—provides exhibitors with an efficient channel to directly engage with North American laboratory procurement decision-makers, supported by mature research facilities, thriving life sciences clusters, and industrially promising enterprises.
  • A Professional Platform Driven by Three Pillars: The exhibition adopts analytica’s proprietary “Exhibition + Scientific Conference + Practical Demonstrations” three-pillar model. Exhibitors not only showcase their products but also engage in in-depth technical exchanges and real-world application interactions through live lab demonstrations, digital transformation exhibits, and lab safety showcases.
  • Unique Value for Chinese Enterprises: As an emerging specialized exhibition in the North American analytical and biochemical field, analytica USA offers Chinese companies a direct pathway into the U.S., the world’s largest market for laboratory technologies and analytical instruments. The international joint pavilion features national delegations from Germany, the United Kingdom, and other countries, providing Chinese enterprises with a strategic window to compete alongside international peers, connect with North American and global buyers, and gain insights into U.S. market regulations and industry standards.
  • A Hub for Industry Trend Insights and Technological Announcements: The scientific conferences focus on cutting-edge topics such as “One Health,” ion mobility mass spectrometry, microfluidics, and data management, inviting internationally renowned scholars to deliver keynote speeches. Meanwhile, the digital transformation exhibit and live lab demonstration zones collectively showcase intelligent solutions—laboratory robots, connected devices, AI-driven data analytics—making the exhibition a critical platform for understanding the future direction of laboratory technologies.

Review

The analytica USA 2025 was successfully held from September 10 to 12 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio, USA. This marked the first time the analytica brand has entered the North American market since its inception in Munich in 1968. Organized by Messe München, the event adopted a three-pillar model—exhibition, scientific conference, and practical demonstrations—to create a new international platform for the North American laboratory industry.

In terms of exhibition scale, this edition covered 75,000 square feet (approximately 7,000 square meters), attracting 270 exhibiting companies from 19 countries, with international exhibitors accounting for 35%. A total of 2,222 professional visitors from 38 countries registered to attend. Dr. Reinhard Pfeiffer, CEO of Messe München, stated that the inaugural analytica USA has laid the groundwork for the group’s expansion into the North American market. As the world’s largest laboratory and analytical market, the United States represents an ideal complement to analytica’s global exhibition portfolio.

The exhibitor lineup showcased internationalization and concentration among industry leaders, featuring such industry giants as Bruker, Hamilton, Mettler Toledo, Sartorius, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Waters, Analytik Jena, MilliporeSigma, PerkinElmer, Shimadzu, and Xylem. The show also included joint national pavilions from China, the United Kingdom, and Germany, providing convenient opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises to participate. International exhibitors spanned the entire value chain, including instruments and equipment, consumables, software, and services.

The concurrent scientific conference was a major highlight of the event, taking place on September 10–11 across five thematic sessions, including two plenary meetings. Conference topics ranged from the global “One Health” agenda to cutting-edge developments in ion mobility mass spectrometry and future trends. The first plenary session, titled “High-Dimensional Phenomics: Mapping Your Life and All Things,” was presented by Professor John McLean of Vanderbilt University. The second plenary session focused on “Enhancing LC-MS Analysis of Proteins, Oligosaccharides, and Oligonucleotides” and “Microbiome Data Science,” delivered respectively by Professor Susan Olesik of Ohio State University and Dr. Nikos Kyrpides of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. The conference also featured a poster session, with prize awards for outstanding submissions.

A rich array of practice-oriented concurrent activities. The Digital Transformation special exhibit highlighted the application of laboratory robots and connected devices in digital workflows, with three themed demonstrations daily. The Live Lab area recreated a complete laboratory workflow, where renowned manufacturers such as Thermo Fisher Scientific and Mettler Toledo demonstrated end-to-end procedures—from sample preparation to final analysis—allowing attendees to gain hands-on insights into process optimization. Meanwhile, the Lab Safety Show used explosive experiments to vividly illustrate safety protocols for handling hazardous materials, particularly focusing on chemical, gas, and lithium battery safety management.

Columbus’s locational advantages were evident. Situated in the heart of the Midwest, Columbus has been recognized by Condé Nast Traveler as one of the “Best Big Cities,” “Best Food Cities,” and “Friendliest Cities.” The region boasts mature research infrastructure, a vibrant life sciences community, and industrial enterprises with high investment potential, attracting professional visitors from across the United States and around the globe. Bill Dunlevy, Vice President of the Ohio Life Sciences Association, remarked, “When we first engaged with Messe München a year ago, we were thrilled at the prospect of bringing analytica to the Seeing the event successfully take root is truly remarkable.”

Positive feedback from exhibitors and visitors. Clark Mulligan, President of the Laboratory Products Association (LPA), stated, “We are delighted that analytica is being held in the for the first time and believe this marks a promising start for further growth in the American market.” Attendees generally agreed that analytica USA, as an emerging platform for the North American laboratory sector, has effectively filled a gap in the market for high-end analytical and biochemical exhibitions. The next analytica USA is scheduled for autumn 2027 in Columbus.
