Exhibition Introduction
The Value of Participating in the Birmingham Autumn Consumer Goods Fair
- One of the world’s four major consumer goods fairs, and a cornerstone event for the UK retail market. First launched in 1956, the fair was held at the NEC for the first time in 1976, with Queen Elizabeth II attending the opening ceremony. After more than seven decades of development, it has become the UK’s most influential specialized trade show for crafts and consumer products, ranking second globally in terms of exhibition scale and impact among consumer goods expos. As one of the industry’s two premier annual events, it has earned a perfect 5.0 rating and serves as Europe’s central platform for commerce and trend insights in the gift and consumer goods sectors.
- Comprehensive coverage across the entire supply chain, with five core sections precisely showcasing key categories. Exhibits span home goods (interior décor, daily necessities, kitchenware, textiles), gifts (greeting cards, stationery, beauty & health products, toys & baby items, Christmas gifts, party supplies), the Moda fashion zone (men’s wear, women’s wear, footwear, jewelry & watches, luggage, fashion accessories), the Pure section (branded ready-to-wear, fine jewelry, trendy apparel, eco-friendly clothing and fabrics), and the cross-border sourcing area (Source Home & Gift, serving top global OEM/ODM manufacturers)—five distinct yet interconnected core segments.
- A hub for connecting with key UK buyers, fostering efficient commercial partnerships. In 2025, the fair attracted thousands of retail decision-makers from renowned names such as Fenwick, M&S, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Argos, Frasers Group, Disney, Walmart, Dunelm, Morrisons, NEXT plc, TK Maxx, Wayfair, and others. Over 90% of attendees held purchasing decision-making authority, and 88% placed orders immediately after the event. Concurrent Buyer Meet Supplier matchmaking sessions helped exhibitors connect efficiently with key buyers, including John Lewis, Homebase, Graham & Green, and others.
- Joint exhibitions and immersive experiences, building an ecosystem of deep integration among industry, academia, research, and application. Starting in 2026, Autumn Fair will partner with the UK International Horticulture, Outdoor & Pet Products Expo (Glee) for the first time, allowing visitors to attend both flagship events in a single trip, significantly saving time and travel expenses. During the fair, the “Retail Corner” stage hosts masterclasses on product management, trend analysis, and digital growth seminars; the “Buyers Retreat” provides exclusive networking spaces and one-on-one advisory services; and the “Gift of the Year Showcase,” in collaboration with BDA London’s Trendhub, releases seasonal trend forecasts, offering exhibitors cutting-edge market insights.
- Precise overseas expansion for Chinese manufacturers, capturing the benefits of the UK’s consumption upgrade. The UK is Europe’s leading retail market, boasting the highest proportion of international retailers and the largest e-commerce market in Europe, with a home and gift market valued at approximately £1 billion. The fair features a dedicated cross-border sourcing area (Source Home & Gift), serving top global consumer goods manufacturers and traders. Through this platform, Chinese enterprises can precisely align with British consumers’ preferences for “product storytelling, environmental attributes, and design aesthetics,” shifting from price-based competition toward brand-value competition and effectively penetrating Europe’s mid-to-high-end retail landscape.
