The Exhibition Value of the National Sugar and Wine Fair

  • The CFDF Sugar and Wine Fair is China’s longest-running, largest-scale, and most influential comprehensive trade show in the food and beverage industry. Since its inception in 1955, it has been successfully held for 113 sessions, earning the reputation as the “barometer” and “weathervane” of China’s food sector. This year’s 113th Autumn Sugar and Wine Fair returns to Nanjing after a decade, under the theme “One Autumn Fair, Sweetness on Both Ends—Nanjing is the Sweetest This Year,” pioneering a new integrated exhibition‑city model known as the “Autumn Sugar Season.” It stands as an annual event that no global player in the food and beverage industry can afford to miss.
  • The core value of participation lies in its unparalleled ability to cover the entire industry chain and its platform role in precisely connecting with global buyer networks. In 2025, the fair will span 200,000 square meters, bringing together 4,027 companies from over 40 countries and regions, showcasing more than 300,000 innovative products, including 30,000 debuting for the first time. With over 400,000 professional visitors—of whom 75% are not from Jiangsu Province—the fair fully demonstrates its national-level platform value. Exhibits cover the entire industry spectrum, including alcoholic beverages, non‑alcoholic drinks, snack foods, seasonings, green agricultural products, food processing machinery, packaging, and logistics, organized into ten thematic pavilions and thirteen specialized zones, forming a complete industrial ecosystem closed loop.
  • The fair has established a comprehensive commercial service system, spanning everything from new product launches to channel‑level transactions. This edition centers on four high‑potential tracks—innovative products, health‑oriented offerings, regionally distinctive products, and technology‑empowered solutions—creating an unprecedented launch platform. Specialized zones such as the “Smart Manufacturing Zone” and the “Health Technology Zone” highlight cutting‑edge advancements in smart logistics, digital factories, sugar‑control foods, and AI‑driven nutrition management. The inaugural Private‑Domain New Channel Product Selection Conference attracted over a thousand exhibitors for on‑site matchmaking, while proprietary brand selection events fostered cross‑regional collaboration for locally distinctive products. Meanwhile, popular instant‑retail brands like Meituan’s Alcohol Flash Warehouse made live presentations, helping participating companies bridge the “last mile” from booth unveilings to shelf‑level sales.
  • The fair aligns with three major industry trends—launch‑driven economies, exhibition‑city integration, and green, low‑carbon development—establishing a technological hub deeply integrating industry, academia, research, and application. During the event, more than 30 high‑profile industry forums will be held, including the Food and Beverage Industry Development Conference, the First China Food Industry Channel Summit, and the Food Industry–Academia–Research Innovation Exchange Conference. Renowned experts such as Academician Shen Changxiang of the Chinese Academy of Engineering will engage in in-depth discussions on hot topics like AI‑enabled smart manufacturing, digital transformation, and nutritional health. The COFCO Nutrition and Health Research Institute will release the “2025 China Media Trends White Paper.” Additionally, 40 universities and research institutes will showcase 1,500 scientific and technological achievements at the “Food Science and Technology Exchange Meeting,” focusing on intelligent processing, biomanufacturing, precision nutrition, and other frontier areas.
  • For Chinese enterprises, this fair serves as a strategic gateway for expanding domestic and international markets, connecting with global resources, and achieving overseas brand expansion. With a distinctly international character, the fair attracts 12 overseas delegations from Italy, the Netherlands, Russia, France, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, and other countries. Three online export‑matching events were organized for Indonesia, Turkey, and Serbia, opening new overseas channels for Serbian seasonings and ingredients, Indonesian snack foods, and Turkish food processing and packaging machinery. The fair also pioneered the “Provincial‑Exhibition Coordination” initiative, with Jiangsu Province jointly establishing a 5,000‑square‑meter investment promotion negotiation zone. Enterprises from the Yangtze River Delta accounted for 25% of exhibitors, leveraging Nanjing’s strategic position as a Belt and Road hub to promote both “Made in China” exports and the import of premium overseas products. Post‑event surveys indicate an overall visitor satisfaction rate of 96.5%, reaching a record high.

Review

The 113th National Sugar and Wine Products Fair (Autumn Session) in 2025 was successfully held from October 16 to 18, 2025, at the Nanjing International Expo Center. Hosted by COFCO Group, this edition of the fair was themed “One Autumn Sugar Fair, Two Sides of Sweetness—Nanjing is the Sweetest This Year,” marking a major annual event for the food and beverage industry.

In terms of scale, the exhibition covered an area of 200,000 square meters, bringing together 4,027 exhibiting companies from over 40 countries and regions worldwide, with more than 400,000 professional visitors. Among the exhibitors were over a thousand leading enterprises, including Moutai, Wuliangye, Yanghe Shares, Fenjiu, Mengniu, Yili, Three Squirrels, Zilin Vinegar Industry, and others. Thirty domestic pavilions representing Shandong, Jilin, Guizhou, and other provinces, along with twelve overseas pavilions from Italy, Russia, France, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, and more, also made their appearance. The exhibits spanned the entire industry chain—from alcoholic beverages and drinks to snack foods, seasonings, green agricultural products, food machinery, and packaging and logistics—showcasing over 300,000 innovative products, including 30,000 making their debut.

This year’s fair featured numerous highlights, with the launch economy and technological innovation as its central attractions. The event focused on four high-potential tracks—innovative products, health-oriented offerings, regionally distinctive products, and technology‑enabled solutions—establishing dedicated zones such as the “Smart Manufacturing Zone” and the “Health Technology Zone” to showcase cutting-edge advancements in smart logistics, digital factories, sugar‑control foods, and AI‑driven nutrition management. COFCO Group’s exhibit created an immersive smart experience space, featuring robotic sales, cloud‑based AI audience assistants, and “AI Health Kiosks,” allowing attendees to engage with novel approaches to health management. Nanjing Ganjuyuan introduced “Golden Granulated Sugar” using nano‑ceramic membrane technology, which quickly gained favor among brands like Laoxiang Chicken and Mixue Ice Cream. Zilin Vinegar Industry unveiled innovative vinegar products, drawing enthusiastic crowds to its booth. Meanwhile, snack food giants such as Three Squirrels and Bestore presented new health‑focused products tailored to younger consumers.

A rich array of concurrent events further elevated the fair, establishing a premier platform for industry dialogue. During the exhibition, more than 30 high‑level industry forums were held, including the “Food and Beverage Industry Development Conference,” the “First China Food Industry Channel Summit,” and the “Food Industry–Academia–Research Innovation Exchange Conference.” Renowned experts such as Academician Shen Changxiang of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Wang Xu from the CCID Consulting Institute discussed前沿 topics like AI‑driven smart manufacturing, digital transformation, and nutritional health. COFCO Nutrition & Health Research Institute released the “2025 China Media Trends White Paper,” while the China Food Industry Association published its Economic Performance Report for January–August 2025, identifying health‑oriented and functional foods as key growth drivers for the sector. Additionally, 40 universities and research institutes showcased 1,500 scientific and technological achievements at the “Food Science and Technology Achievement Exchange Meeting,” focusing on intelligent processing, biomanufacturing, and precision nutrition.

International procurement and overseas market‑access initiatives yielded significant results. This edition of the Sugar and Wine Fair attracted 12 overseas pavilions from Italy, the Netherlands, Russia, France, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, and other countries, and hosted three online export‑matching events targeting Indonesia, Turkey, and Serbia. These sessions focused respectively on Serbian seasonings and ingredients, Indonesian snack foods, and Turkish food processing and packaging machinery, opening new international channels for domestic enterprises. Bogamo International (Nanjing) Co., Ltd. showcased Italian ham and pastries, with the booth manager expressing hopes to foster mutual cultural exchange and investment cooperation between China and Italy.

The buyer ecosystem continued to improve, with emerging channel resources prominently featured. For the first time, the fair conducted a comprehensive outreach campaign, visiting 219 wholesale markets across 30 cities nationwide, inviting professionals to attend. Among the on‑site attendees, non‑Jiangsu residents accounted for as much as 75%. The inaugural Private‑Domain New‑Channel Product Selection Conference drew over a thousand exhibitors, who engaged in one‑on‑one product‑matching sessions. Popular instant‑retail brands such as Meituan’s Alcohol Flash Warehouse also held promotional events, attracting numerous industry stakeholders interested in joining their platforms. A proprietary brand product selection meeting brought together more than 60 factories, effectively advancing cross‑regional collaboration on regionally distinctive products.

Urban‑Exhibition Integration delivered remarkable outcomes, activating a multi‑billion‑yuan economy through tens of millions of visits. This year’s fair pioneered the “Autumn Sugar Season” urban‑exhibition integration initiative, employing a three‑tiered activity matrix—“7+70+700” (seven flagship thematic events, over seventy renowned catering brands, and more than seven hundred cultural, commercial, tourism, and sports consumption venues)—to extend the high‑quality exhibition experience throughout Nanjing. Over ten million people participated in these urban‑exhibition consumption‑stimulating activities, generating cumulative direct economic benefits totaling RMB 10.6816 billion. From October 9 to 18, UnionPay monitoring data revealed that the Autumn Sugar Season boosted Nanjing’s accommodation sector by 29.47% year over year, with hotel occupancy rates averaging 92%; core commercial districts saw visitor traffic increase by over 20%, and nighttime economic activity rose nearly 30%. More than ninety local well‑known catering brands took part, reporting average revenue growth of 35% and a 42% increase in customer footfall during the period.
