Sichuan Chengdu Electric Power Industry Expo

From May 15 to 17, 2025, the 22nd China International Power Industry Expo and Green Energy Equipment Expo (CIPIE 2025) was successfully held at the Chengdu Century City New International Convention and Exhibition Center. This edition of the expo was themed “Jointly Building a New-Era Power System Ecosystem and Jointly Promoting Innovative Development in Green Energy,” and was co-organized by the Power Industry Committee of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the SME Branch of the China Electricity Council, and Chengdu Zhenwei World Expo Co., Ltd.

In terms of scale, the event covered an exhibition area of 22,000 square meters, bringing together more than 300 exhibitors from around the world. Approximately 1,000 innovative products driven by new‑generation productivity were showcased. On the first day alone, professional visitors exceeded 30,000, and over the three‑day period, total attendance surpassed 50,000. The expo featured three major thematic zones—New‑Generation Power Systems, Source‑Grid‑Load‑Storage‑Carbon‑Digital Integration, and Water‑Nuclear‑Wind‑Solar‑Hydrogen—as well as dedicated areas for Virtual Power Plants and Zero‑Carbon Park Demonstrations, comprehensively presenting cutting‑edge materials, products, equipment, technologies, and innovative solutions across all links of the power generation, storage, transmission, transformation, distribution, and consumption value chains.

This year’s expo boasted numerous highlights, with both its international reach and level of specialization reaching record highs. More than 30 international organizations from Russia, Germany, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, the Philippines, Thailand, Pakistan, Nepal, Myanmar, and other European countries and Belt and Road partner nations sent on‑site purchasing delegations. Leading state‑owned enterprises such as Dongfang Electric–Dongfang Boiler, Xidian Zhongte, Remote Cable, Hongming Electronics, and Siwei Technology, along with industry leaders including Tongwei Group, UNI‑T, Suishi Technology, Xingsheng Electrical, Minhua Power, and Didu New Energy, were joined by specialized, niche, and high‑tech companies like Nengshida, Ruiting Zhihui, Zhongxin General, Zhiming Group, Wuhan Gaode Intelligent Sensing, Hubei Sanjiang Boli, Shenzhen Yuantuo Optoelectronics, Jinshengyang, Shenyang Guolian, Jiangxi Ruihua, Tian’an Intelligence, Shangde United, Qingdao Qingdian, Zhengzhou Zhongzhi, Zhejiang Chima, Mac Sensors, Zhonghe Chuangneng, Huashu, Ronghe Huikong, Zhejiang Deling, Saihaoda Zhi, Shengli Instruments, Bairui, Keqi, Zhongchuang Guoyuan, Babang Electrical, Hui’ou Electrical, Qianbai Industrial, Zhejiang Bolatu, Beijing Limake, and others—all making prominent appearances.

A rich array of concurrent events created a high‑end platform for industry exchange. At the opening ceremony, Wang Shuxiang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Executive Vice Chairman of the China Electricity Council; Lei Xianzhang, Academician of the German National Academy of Engineering and Chief Scientist for Carbon Neutrality at Southwest Petroleum University; Suresh Raut, Consul General of the Nepalese Consulate General in Chengdu; Aga Hunan, Chargé d’Affaires of the Pakistani Consulate General in Chengdu; Glenn Peñaranda, Commercial Counselor of the Philippine Embassy in China, and other distinguished leaders and guests were in attendance. Concurrently, the China International Conference on the Development and Application of New‑Generation Power Systems was held, featuring keynote speeches by experts including Academician Lei Xianzhang, President Wang Jin of the National Institute of Cooperative Energy, and Du Xinfeng, Deputy General Manager of Hangzhou Yushu Technology. At the venue, a hybrid virtual‑physical “Source‑Grid‑Load‑Storage‑Carbon‑Digital” sandbox, integrated with DeepSeek’s AI‑driven carbon‑efficiency monitoring system, vividly demonstrated practical applications of large‑scale AI models in energy dispatch and carbon‑emission optimization.

The professional visitor base was exceptionally strong, with international participation reaching unprecedented levels. The expo attracted representatives from over 100 domestic and international trade associations, organizations, and procurement groups, including the Sichuan Provincial Electric Power Enterprises Association, the Sichuan Provincial Society of Electrical Engineers, the Sichuan Provincial Society of Electrical Technology, the Fujian Provincial Electric Power Enterprises Association, the Qinghai Provincial Electric Power Industry Association, the Hubei Provincial Electric Power and Electromechanical Industry Association, the Guangxi Electric Power Engineering Enterprises Association, the Shanxi Provincial Electric Power Industry Association, the Hainan Renewable Energy Association, the Ningxia Solar Energy Association, the Zhejiang Wire and Cable Industry Association, the Shandong Provincial Society of Electrical Technology, the Shaanxi Provincial Electric Power Industry Association, the Chongqing Municipal Society of Electrical Engineers, the Dongguan Municipal Electric Power Industry Association, and the Jiaxing Municipal Electric Power Industry Association. During the event, the Nepalese Consulate General in Chengdu hosted a photovoltaic energy industry promotion session, inviting government agencies, international organizations, and specialized procurement groups from the photovoltaic sector—including the Alternative Energy Promotion Council of Nepal (AEPC)—to engage in face-to-face discussions and collaborations with exhibiting companies on site.

The expo yielded significant results and received enthusiastic industry acclaim. Exhibiting companies widely reported that the quality of professional visitors was high, with clear purchasing objectives, and that on‑site business matchmaking proved highly effective. Attendees agreed that CIPIE is not only an outstanding platform for brand exposure and commercial networking but also a critical hub for gaining insights into mid‑ and western China’s power‑energy trends and exploring pathways toward digitalization and green transformation.
