Exhibition Review

The CommunicAsia 2025 telecommunications exhibition was successfully held from June 17 to 19 at the Singapore Expo. Hosted by the Singapore Exhibition Group and co-located with BroadcastAsia and SatelliteAsia, the event was themed “Connecting the Intelligent Future” and stood as Asia’s premier annual gathering for technological exchange and business matchmaking in the communications sector. Concurrently, it featured a series of ancillary events, including the CommunicAsia Summit, the 5G and Digital Transformation Forum, and operator‑buyer matchmaking sessions.

With an exhibition space spanning 25,000 square meters, the show brought together over 600 exhibiting companies from more than 50 countries and regions worldwide. The exhibitor lineup included telecom equipment giants such as Huawei, ZTE, Nokia, Ericsson, and Cisco, as well as leading Asian telecom operators including Singtel, China Mobile International, China Telecom International, and China Unicom International. Over the three days, the event welcomed more than 20,000 professional visitors from over 100 countries and regions, among whom core buyers—telecom operators, ICT solution providers, and enterprise IT decision‑makers—accounted for over 60%.

The 5G‑Advanced and 6G pavilions emerged as the standout highlights of this year’s show. Huawei showcased its comprehensive 5.5G solutions and early-stage 6G research成果, featuring technologies such as ultra‑large‑scale antenna arrays and intelligent metasurfaces, demonstrating peak network capacities of 10 Gbps downlink and 1 Gbps uplink. ZTE presented its 5G‑Advanced core network and wireless access products, along with industry‑specific private 5G network solutions. Meanwhile, Nokia and Ericsson unveiled their latest advancements in 5G network slicing, low‑latency, high‑reliability communications, and other key areas. Several companies reported that commercial deployment of 5G‑Advanced has already commenced, while R&D on critical 6G technologies is accelerating.

The satellite internet and aerospace communications pavilions also drew significant attention. Singapore Satellite exhibited its next‑generation high‑throughput satellite communication solutions, designed to meet broadband connectivity needs across aviation, maritime, and remote‑working scenarios. Asia‑Pacific Satellite showcased its regional satellite resources and enterprise‑grade communication offerings. Chinese satellite communication firms participated with cutting‑edge products, highlighting China’s progress in low‑Earth‑orbit satellite internet. Many exhibitors emphasized that the integration of satellite internet with terrestrial 5G networks represents a pivotal direction for future communications development.

The artificial intelligence and edge computing pavilions garnered substantial interest. Amazon Web Services unveiled its AI/ML services and edge computing solutions, enabling enterprises to rapidly develop intelligent applications. Microsoft Azure introduced its OpenAI services and cognitive service APIs, while Alibaba Cloud and Tencent Cloud each demonstrated AI‑driven applications in smart city initiatives and industrial internet use cases. Several companies noted that generative AI is reshaping service models across the communications industry, and the deep convergence of AI and communications will unlock new commercial value.

Operator matchmaking sessions yielded fruitful results. Held on the second day of the exhibition, these sessions brought together procurement and technical executives from over 20 leading Asian telecom operators—including Singtel, China Mobile International, Reliance Jio, True Corporation, Telkom Indonesia, and Maxis—to engage in one‑on‑one discussions with exhibiting companies. Topics covered included 5G equipment, network optimization strategies, OSS/BSS systems, and cybersecurity products. Preliminary estimates indicate that more than 30 cooperation agreements were reached during the event. A procurement executive from Telkom Indonesia remarked, “CommunicAsia is the most important platform for connecting the Asian communications industry; we attend every year to discover new technologies and potential partners.”

The CommunicAsia Summit gathered top industry thought leaders. With the theme “AI‑Driven, Smart Connectivity for All,” the summit featured keynote addresses by the Assistant Director‑General of Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority, the Regional Director for Asia‑Pacific at the International Telecommunication Union, the President of Huawei’s Asia‑Pacific Region, the Senior Vice President of ZTE, and the CTO of Nokia’s Asia‑Pacific Division. Discussions centered on topics such as “Commercialization Pathways for 5G‑Advanced,” “Asian Opportunities in Satellite Internet,” and “The Impact of Generative AI on the Communications Industry.” Experts underscored that Asia’s digital economy is experiencing explosive growth, with vast market potential emerging from infrastructure development and digital transformation efforts.

As commercial deployment of 5G‑Advanced advances and pre‑research on 6G gathers momentum, Asia’s communications industry is entering a new cycle of technological upgrading. As Asia’s most influential specialized communications exhibition, CommunicAsia has become a strategic platform for companies to showcase cutting‑edge technologies, connect with customers, gain insights into emerging trends, and expand their market reach. The next edition of CommunicAsia is scheduled to take place at the Singapore Expo in June 2026.
