The 2025 Asia New Power System and Energy Storage Exhibition was successfully held from June 11 to 13 at the Guangzhou Canton Fair Complex. Co-organized by China Southern Power Grid Company Limited, Guangdong Energy Association, Guangdong Energy Conservation Association, Guangdong Electric Power Industry Association, and other institutions, the event was held concurrently with the Guangzhou International Wire & Cable and Accessories Exhibition. With the theme “Green Low-Carbon · Digital Intelligence Future,” it has become the annual highlight of the power and energy storage industries in South China.

Covering an exhibition area of 50,000 square meters, the show brought together over 600 exhibiting companies, spanning multiple halls in Area B of the Canton Fair Complex. The exhibitor lineup included domestic industry leaders such as China Southern Power Grid, TBEA, China XD Electric, Pinggao Group, Xuji Group, NARI Group, CATL, BYD, EVE Energy, Sungrow, Huawei Digital Power, NARI Technology, and NARI Automation, alongside international brands like Siemens, ABB, and Schneider Electric. Over the three-day event, more than 40,000 professional visitors were welcomed, hailing from 30 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions across China, as well as from over 20 countries and regions in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

China Southern Power Grid, as a guiding organization, played a pivotal role in this edition of the exhibition, setting up the “China Southern Power Grid New Power System Achievements Zone” on-site. This zone showcased the company’s latest breakthroughs in digital grids, flexible DC transmission, virtual power plants, demand-side response, and other cutting-edge fields. At the opening ceremony, the Deputy General Manager of China Southern Power Grid stated, “China Southern Power Grid is fully committed to building a new power system centered on renewable energy. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, we plan to invest over RMB 600 billion, providing vast market opportunities for power equipment manufacturers.” Throughout the exhibition, procurement representatives from China Southern Power Grid’s Materials Department and various provincial power companies maintained on-site liaison points, engaging in extensive purchasing negotiations with numerous exhibitors.

The new energy storage zone emerged as the exhibition’s standout feature. CATL unveiled its sodium-ion battery-based energy storage system, which boasts significant advantages in low-temperature performance and cost-effectiveness, already deployed in several shared energy storage projects. BYD presented its “Magic Cube” energy storage system, featuring a modular design that enables flexible configuration and rapid deployment. EVE Energy showcased large cylindrical battery energy storage solutions, primarily targeting industrial and commercial applications as well as residential markets. Sungrow introduced its next-generation liquid-cooled energy storage system, offering a 30% increase in energy density compared to the previous generation. According to preliminary estimates, the total intended transaction value in the energy storage sector exceeded RMB 5 billion during the exhibition.

The smart grid and digitalization zone also drew considerable attention. Huawei Digital Power demonstrated its “Smart Photovoltaic-Storage Generator” solution, enabling coordinated control between photovoltaics and energy storage, thereby enhancing the integration of renewable energy into the grid. NARI Technology exhibited its “Next-Generation Dispatch Automation System,” currently in use at multiple provincial dispatch centers under China Southern Power Grid. NARI Group unveiled its IoT-based distribution network solution, facilitating intelligent operations and rapid fault localization in distribution networks. Several exhibitors noted that, with the rapid growth of distributed photovoltaics and electric vehicles, there is an urgent need to upgrade and modernize distribution networks, highlighting the promising prospects of the smart distribution equipment market.

The Asia New Power System Forum gathered top-tier industry expertise. With the theme “Building a New Power System · Supporting the Dual Carbon Goals,” the forum featured keynote speeches by Academician Li Lihong of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Kang Chongqing, Director of the Energy Internet Research Institute at Tsinghua University, the General Manager of the Strategic Planning Department of China Southern Power Grid, and experts from the Legal Affairs and Institutional Reform Department of the National Energy Administration. The forum engaged in in-depth discussions on technological pathways, market mechanisms, and policy frameworks for new power systems. Academician Li Lihong emphasized, “The core of the new power system lies in the synergistic interaction among ‘source-grid-load-storage.’ Energy storage and digital technologies are critical enablers.” The forum attracted over 1,000 industry professionals to attend in person.

As the dual carbon goals continue to advance, the construction of new power systems is entering an accelerated phase, ushering in a golden era for energy storage, smart grids, and digital distribution. The Guangzhou Power and Smart Grid Exhibition—Asia New Power System and Energy Storage Exhibition, backed by the robust resources of China Southern Power Grid, has become a strategic platform for enterprises seeking to enter the southern Chinese power market and seize opportunities in the energy transition. The next edition of the exhibition is scheduled to take place in 2026 at the Guangzhou Canton Fair Complex.
