From August 6 to 8, 2025, the International Green Building and Building Materials Expo (Shanghai) was successfully held at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center. Marking the event’s twentieth anniversary, this edition was themed “Green and Low-Carbon: Empowering High-Quality Buildings,” with an exhibition area of 20,000 square meters. Nearly 200 domestic and international brand exhibitors participated, and over 20,000 professional visitors attended during the three-day show.

Optimized and Upgraded Exhibition Layout: A Comprehensive Overview of Three Core Sectors. The expo focused on three key sectors: building energy efficiency, villa systems, and healthy living environments. The building energy efficiency sector brought together leading environmental‑friendly building material companies from the Yangtze River Delta and across China, including Liangpu, Yongqian, Taishan Gypsum, Changxing Baiside, and Shandong Baikal, showcasing cutting-edge innovations such as prefabricated construction, integrated exterior wall insulation systems, and energy‑saving and environmentally friendly building products. In the villa systems segment, top photovoltaic firms like Tianhe FJ, Huabao New Energy, Xinxin Xinyang, and Muchun New Energy gathered, with a record number of PV‑related exhibitors. Meanwhile, the newly introduced healthy living environment sector, emphasizing residential comfort and safety, emerged as a major highlight of this year’s event.

Strong Exhibitor Lineup and Significant Internationalization. After a three-year absence, the Japan Wood Export Association returned, organizing group participation from companies such as Yoshikoshi Co., Ltd., Kuwahara Lumber Co., Ltd., Koshii Lumber Industry Co., Ltd., China Wood Co., Ltd., Tōgen Co., Ltd., and Hokusan Co., Ltd., collectively presenting high‑quality timber products and related technologies. Enterprises like Shuxiang Mendidi, Wenling Jiumu Kang, and Jingshuo made their debut at the expo, creating a dynamic platform where established industry leaders and emerging innovators showcased the latest advances in new materials, processes, and technologies.

Rich Concurrent Events and In‑Depth Industry Dialogue. More than ten high‑level professional forums were held throughout the event. The “2025 Villa Design and Technology Development Conference,” under the theme “Sustainability • Towards the Future,” convened cross‑disciplinary experts—including homeowners, designers, and interior decoration firms—to explore pathways for sustainable development in premium residential projects. The “Innovation in Building‑Integrated Photovoltaics, Zero‑Carbon Buildings, and Safety Standards for Distributed PV Power Stations Forum” launched the drafting of a group standard titled “Technical Specifications for Rapid Shutdown Applications in Distributed Photovoltaic Power Generation Systems.” Additionally, the “Second High‑Quality Development Forum on ‘Good Houses’ (Quiet Residences)” brought together leading acoustics specialists to focus on core elements of the architectural acoustics value chain.
