Review
From June 19 to 22, 2025, the Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair (JGA) was successfully held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, attracting a total of 24,020 professional buyers from 87 countries and regions—a 5% year-on-year increase. Notably, buyer numbers from Mainland China grew robustly, while participation from emerging markets such as the Philippines and Kazakhstan also saw significant gains.
The fair brought together approximately 1,200 exhibitors from nearly 30 countries and regions, with over 30 themed pavilions on site, including the Fine Jewellery & Gem Pavilion, the CORE Pavilion, the Jade Gallery, and the Antique Jewellery Pavilion, covering the entire industry chain—from loose diamonds and coloured gemstones to pearls, equipment, and cutting-edge technologies.
Three major highlights included the “Pearl Splendor 2.0” special exhibition, the Gold Jewellery Pavilion, and the announcement of the shortlist for the JWA Sustainability Awards. The Pearl Special Exhibition, supported by renowned brands such as Autore and Paspaley, traced the journey of pearls and showcased advanced faceting techniques, while its live online guided tours drew more than 420,000 viewers, setting a benchmark for digital engagement. Meanwhile, the Gold Jewellery Pavilion highlighted innovative craftsmanship. A charity sale of freshwater pearls continued the event’s tradition of social responsibility, with proceeds supporting water‑related projects across Asia.
In terms of market trends, live e‑commerce livestreams featuring professional influencers from Mainland China have gained momentum, blending entertainment with sales and drawing tens of thousands of viewers, earning recognition from the organizers for injecting fresh vitality into younger consumer segments. Several seminars focused on green consumption, Gen Z preferences, and e‑commerce trends, with Taotian Group sharing its experience in digitally transforming the jewellery sector.
Exhibits of exceptional quality abounded, with standout pieces such as Anan Jewels’ diamond floral designs, HYT’s 10.03‑carat intense yellow diamond and Colombian emerald, JR Diam’s conch‑shell pearl jewellery, and Rio Pearl’s Burmese South Sea pearls all drawing considerable attention. Design inspirations spanned floral motifs, candy‑colored hues, and heart‑shaped themes, while precious gems like rubies and Paraíba tourmalines also captured widespread interest. Liu Xiaowen, Director of Jewellery Exhibitions at Informa Markets, remarked that JGA serves as a professional platform for uncovering new opportunities, noting that although buyer numbers have increased, participants remain cautious amid a complex economic environment. The fair also unveiled the shortlist for the JWA Sustainability Awards.
Compared with June 2023, when the first post‑pandemic JGA attracted over 1,800 exhibitors and 22,000 buyers, this edition marked a clear recovery for the industry. The next JGA is scheduled to take place from June 18 to 21, 2026.
