Exhibition Review

The 27th edition of INTERSEC, the Middle East’s premier security, safety and fire protection exhibition, was successfully held from January 12 to 14 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Organized by Messe Frankfurt, with strong support from government bodies including the UAE Ministry of Economy and Dubai Police, the event was themed “Shaping the Future of Security, Safety and Fire Protection,” making it the industry’s most significant annual platform for technological exchange and business matchmaking.

Exhibition Space and Exhibitor Numbers Remain at High Levels. This year’s show brought together over 1,200 exhibitors from more than 60 countries, occupying approximately 65,000 square meters. The exhibit portfolio spanned five core sectors: commercial security and perimeter protection; fire safety and emergency response; cybersecurity; homeland security and policing; and health & safety. The event attracted more than 50,000 professional visitors from around the globe.

Biometric Technology Takes Center Stage. Facial biometrics featured prominently, with several global industry leaders showcasing their latest innovations. Iris ID unveiled its multimodal biometric solution, integrating iris and facial recognition with Presentation Attack Detection (PAD) technology, certified to iBeta Level 2 standards—ideal for high‑security applications such as border control, immigration, and corporate access. HID Global introduced its Amico facial biometric reader, designed for rapid, contactless access in high‑traffic environments, alongside the HID Mobile Access mobile access solution compatible with Apple Wallet and Google Wallet.

Next‑Generation Access Control Technologies Make Their Debut. Suprema launched its “next‑generation” access control offering, with the BioStation 3 Max featuring an advanced neural processor that delivers ultra‑fast authentication even under heavy traffic conditions, and introducing PoE power delivery for the first time. Suprema also unveiled the XPass Q2 smart QR code reader, along with the BioStar X for on‑premises deployment and the cloud‑based BioStar Air unified security platform. Invixium showcased its full product lineup, tailored for critical infrastructure, industrial sites, and small to medium enterprises.

Chinese Companies Show Strong Presence. ZKTeco set up a booth in Sheikh Saeed Hall 1, highlighting its intelligent identity verification products and access control solutions. Hikvision focused on its AIoT ecosystem, demonstrating cutting‑edge imaging and scene‑analysis technologies. Chinese firms presented a diverse array of offerings in areas such as AI cameras, solar‑powered cameras, infrared thermal imaging devices, and smart access control systems.

Complementary Conferences and Industry Forums Abound. Building on the success of last year’s Intersec Policing Conference and CISO Business Briefing, this year’s program featured expert panels addressing topics such as policing in the digital age, forward‑looking policing strategies, the future of road safety, drone operations, and quantum‑enabled crime prevention. The CISO Business Briefing opened with a keynote address by Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity for the UAE Government.

Intersec Startup Arena: A Dedicated Space for Emerging Enterprises. In collaboration with Ignyte, the fair established a dedicated startup zone, providing emerging companies with a unique opportunity to present their innovative ideas and solutions to industry leaders, government representatives, and top investors—paving the way for strategic partnerships, mentorship, and investment.

Strong Response from Exhibitors and the Industry. Wajahat Hussain, Exhibition Manager for Messe Frankfurt Middle East, remarked: “INTERSEC has once again proven itself as the leading global platform where pioneers, innovators, and experts converge to share knowledge, forge partnerships, and explore cutting‑edge advancements shaping the future of security, safety, and fire protection. Record‑breaking exhibitor participation underscores INTERSEC’s growing influence and pivotal role in driving forward‑thinking solutions.” As the world’s most influential trade show in the security and fire protection sectors, INTERSEC has become a strategic hub for companies to showcase their technologies, connect with customers, gain market insights, and expand into the Middle East and beyond.
