The Exhibition Value of the Guangzhou International Wine Expo
- The Guangzhou International Wine Expo (Interwine China) is China’s largest specialized exhibition for imported wines and spirits. Since its inception in 2005, it has been successfully held for 35 editions and is widely recognized by the industry as a leading indicator and barometer of China’s imported wine sector, as well as a pivotal platform driving the internationalization of China’s liquor industry. Co-organized by authoritative bodies such as the China Food Industry Association and the World Spirits Trade Association, the event receives key guidance and support from the Ministry of Commerce. It has established deep partnerships with 72 major wine-producing countries worldwide, with each edition spanning approximately 50,000 square meters and attracting nearly 1,000 exhibitors and over 40,000 industry professionals.
- The core value of participating lies in its dual‑directional platform—“bringing in” and “going out”—and its highly concentrated pool of global buyers. Held concurrently with the third phase of the Canton Fair, the expo provides one‑stop access to professional buyers from more than 200 countries around the globe. The 35th edition in 2025 is strategically positioned around the theme “Chinese Liquors Going Global,” drawing over 1,000 buyers from more than 60 countries and regions, including Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea. Among them, over a thousand are key Southeast Asian purchasers, underscoring the expo’s substantial international influence.
- The expo has established a one‑stop commercial platform that spans the entire global alcoholic beverage value chain. Exhibits cover all categories, including Chinese baijiu, wine, whisky, brandy, sake, craft beer, fruit wines, low‑alcohol trendy drinks, as well as related products such as glassware, packaging, and brewing equipment. At the 2025 edition, leading Chinese liquor brands—including Moutai, Wuliangye, Fenjiu, Yanghe, and Luzhou Laojiao—will share the stage with premium wineries from France, Italy, Spain, Chile, Australia, Japan, Georgia, and dozens of other nations, forming a comprehensive display matrix that encompasses the world’s major production regions. The expo features ten themed zones, such as the Chinese Liquor Pavilion, the Global Award‑Winning Wines Zone, the Whisky Pavilion, and the Craft Beer Zone, offering ample selection space for professional buyers.
- Keeping pace with three major industry trends—“Chinese Baijiu Going Global,” “Premium Wines,” and “Low‑Alcohol Trendy Drinks”—the expo has created a cutting‑edge technological hub fostering deep integration among industry, academia, research, and application. At the 2025 edition, the “Global Distilled Spirits Brand Ranking” was unveiled, with Chinese brands securing six spots in the top ten, highlighting the global recognition of Chinese quality. Concurrently, dozens of specialized events were held, including the Chinese Liquor Going Global Conference, the International Distilled Spirits Brand Value Launch, and the Chinese Baijiu Cocktail Innovation Competition, delving into critical topics such as internationalization strategies, overseas market approaches, and the expansion of emerging distribution channels. The expo also hosts more than 90 exhibits showcasing globally acclaimed award‑winning spirits and dedicated whisky zones, reflecting prevailing consumption trends.
- For Chinese enterprises, this expo serves as a strategic gateway to expand into global markets, connect with international resources, and showcase brand strength. Leveraging Guangzhou’s strategic location as a central hub of the Greater Bay Area and using Southeast Asia as a strategic foothold, the expo outlines a three‑step roadmap for Chinese liquor brands to go global: cultivating cultural ties with neighboring markets, expanding along the Belt and Road Initiative, and penetrating mainstream European and American markets. At the 2025 edition, on‑site matchmaking sessions were organized with key purchasing delegations from Malaysia, Vietnam, and other Southeast Asian countries, building efficient collaboration bridges between Chinese liquor companies and overseas buyers. Participating enterprises can use this platform to tap into global procurement networks and seize early opportunities in the internationalization of China’s liquor industry.

Exhibition Review
The 35th China (Guangzhou) International Wine & Spirits Exhibition (Interwine China 2025) was successfully held from October 31 to November 2, 2025, at the Poly World Trade Center Expo in Guangzhou. This edition of the exhibition was anchored by the strategic theme “Chinese Fine Wines Go Global,” co-organized by the China Food Industry Association, the Food Industry Committee of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and the World Wine & Spirits Importers & Exporters Association, marking a significant milestone in the internationalization of China’s wine industry.
In terms of scale, the exhibition covered an area of 30,000 square meters, bringing together nearly 300 exhibitors from around the world, including a star-studded lineup of leading Chinese liquor brands and regional pavilions. The event attracted over 1,000 buyers from more than 60 countries and regions, including Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and others. Among them, key procurement delegations from Southeast Asia numbered over a thousand, while distributors, importers, and channel partners from major domestic liquor-consuming provinces such as Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Hubei, Shandong, and Hebei attended in organized groups.
This year’s exhibition featured numerous highlights, with China’s premium liquor sector making its debut as a unified “all-star lineup,” becoming the central attraction. Leading brands such as Kweichow Moutai, Wuliangye, Fenjiu, Yanghe, and Luzhou Laojiao took center stage, joined by distinctive regional pavilions from Renhuai, Shandong, Shanxi, Hubei, Inner Mongolia, and other renowned production areas. Covering all aroma types—strong, sauce‑style, clear, rice‑based, and blended—the exhibition presented the most comprehensive industrial chain map of China’s liquor sector. Internationally, exhibitors from Australia, Chile, Italy, Spain, Portugal, New Zealand, Hungary, Russia, Moldova, Peru, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and dozens of other nations showcased their regionally distinctive fine wines, with the Australian delegation proudly featuring boutique wineries like Swan Estate.
A rich array of concurrent events created a high‑end platform for industry exchange and intellectual dialogue. During the exhibition, dozens of specialized activities were held, including the “2025 China Premium Liquor Going Global Conference,” the “2025 International Distilled Spirits Brand Value Release Conference,” and the welcome banquet “Harmony and Beauty: A Night with Wuliangye.” The opening ceremony was presided over by Yang Qiang, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Food Industry Association, with remarks delivered by Ma Yong, Vice President and Secretary-General of the China Food Industry Association; Jia Yanping, President of the World Wine & Spirits Importers & Exporters Association; César Gamboa, Consul General of Chile in Guangzhou; Dato’ Liu Shuntai, President of the Sabah Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia, and other distinguished guests. Liu Pingjun, Chair of the Advisory Group of the ISO Technical Committee on Brand Evaluation, delivered a keynote address, while Yang Yunxia, Chief Engineer of Wuliangye Co., Ltd., offered a toast. Concurrently, the exhibition hosted dozens of masterclasses, tasting sessions, and overseas market‑matching events, continuously fueling industry buzz.
The professional audience was exceptionally strong, with an unprecedented level of international participation. Professional purchasing delegations from major Asian markets—including Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea—turned out in force. Dato’ Chen Deqin, Vice President of the Malaysian Chinese Association, and Dato’ Liu Shuntai, President of the Sabah Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia, personally led their respective procurement teams to the event. Exhibiting companies widely reported that the quality of the professional audience was high, with clear purchasing objectives, resulting in highly effective business matchmaking on site.
The exhibition yielded impressive results and received enthusiastic industry acclaim. The 2025 World Distilled Spirits Brand Rankings were unveiled during the event, with Chinese brands securing six spots among the global top ten, underscoring the worldwide recognition of Chinese quality. Ma Yong, Vice President and Secretary-General of the China Food Industry Association, emphasized that the internationalization of China’s liquor industry has never been a solo performance by individual brands, but rather a collective “chorus” involving the entire sector. He called for leveraging the Greater Bay Area, targeting Southeast Asia, and reaching out globally, so that Chinese fine wines may serve as a “taste‑based code” through which the world comes to understand China. Attendees agreed that Interwine China is not only an outstanding platform for brand showcasing and business matchmaking, but also a pivotal hub for discerning global trends in the spirits industry and charting pathways for the internationalization of China’s liquor sector.
The 36th China (Guangzhou) International Wine & Spirits Exhibition is scheduled to take place in Guangzhou in May 2026. The exhibition is expected to expand to over 30,000 square meters, with nearly 500 exhibitors and a professional audience exceeding 40,000 attendees. It will continue to provide an efficient platform for global exchange and collaboration within the spirits industry.
