The North Korean Commodity Exhibition in Pyongyang is currently the largest and most commercially successful international trade fair in North Korea. Established in 1998, it was held annually until 2005, when it was restructured into two separate sessions—one in spring and one in autumn—each year. The exhibition is a major festive event for the North Korean public, attracting over 100,000 visitors.
North Korea operates a centrally planned economy, with enterprises typically organized as “companies,” all of which are state-owned. Each year, numerous such companies attend the exhibition to engage in procurement and business negotiations. The exhibition areas are divided into categories including building materials and furniture, motorcycles, electric vehicles, and tricycles, light industrial goods and household items, machinery, electronics, and electrical appliances, as well as food products and healthcare supplies.
The North Korean Commodity Exhibition in Pyongyang has drawn participation from more than 100 enterprises representing 20 countries, including China, Russia, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Cuba, Mongolia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, Australia, and others.
Beyond being the largest international trade fair of the year in North Korea, the North Korean Commodity Exhibition also serves as the sole gateway for foreign companies seeking access to the North Korean market. After purchase, the organizer verifies visitor identity. Visitors who do not meet entry requirements may need to submit additional documents. Once approved, you will receive email confirmation or a QR code. On site, present your original passport and confirmation letter to collect a paper badge, or scan the QR code to enter.
