Preview In SEOUL, the Korea Textile, Apparel & Fabric ExhibitionAs global fashion brands continue to seek more innovative materials and supply-chain partners, the next major showcase of South Korea’s textile industry is well worth watching.

The Preview In SEOUL exhibition brought together 526 companies from both domestic and international markets, attracting approximately 15,000 visitors, including around 900 overseas buyers. For exhibiting companies, this edition of PIS served not only as a platform to showcase their products but also as a vital business venue for identifying new clients and advancing concrete projects.

From functional fabrics to next-season trends, and from precise matchmaking with global buyers to collaborative brand‑procurement partnerships, PIS has once again become an important window into the innovation capabilities of South Korea’s textile industry and its international supply-chain collaborations.

Many exhibitors noted that this year’s event featured deeper content curation and a more refined exhibition layout. In particular, thanks to the BMS business-matching system, scheduled meetings between exhibitors and buyers increased compared to last year, further enhancing the efficiency of business interactions.

Cassia Lewis Cameron, a procurement representative from Patagonia who has participated continuously since 2023, stated that her team has maintained ongoing communication with the Korean company Daehyun TFC. Following R&D and quality‑verification processes, the two parties recently finalized a cooperation agreement.

South Korea’s leading specialized textile and apparel trade show—Preview in SEOUL (PIS)—is set to once again draw global attention. The event will prominently invite purchasing executives from renowned global brands and retailers across Asia, North America, Europe, the Middle East, and other regions, with the proportion of European and American buyers rising significantly to 46.2%.

The Exhibition Value of the Korea Textile & Fashion Show (Preview In SEOUL)

  • Asia’s leading specialized textile and fashion exhibition, a bellwether for the Northeast Asian fashion industry. Organized by the Korea Fiber Industry Federation (KOFOTI), Preview In SEOUL (PIS) has been held annually since its inception in 2000, now boasting more than twenty successful editions. It stands as Korea’s largest and most representative professional textile and fashion trade show. As Asia’s cradle of fashion design and trends, the event is widely recognized within the industry as a pivotal gateway for global textile and apparel companies seeking to penetrate the high-end markets of Korea, Japan, and Southeast Asia. Against the backdrop of an accelerating restructuring of the global textile supply chain, PIS is evolving from a traditional sourcing platform into a “standard-setting authority,” with its exhibit portfolio shifting toward high‑tech segments such as performance fibers, eco‑friendly dyeing technologies, and smart textiles.
  • A one-stop showcase spanning the entire industry value chain. The exhibition encompasses every link in the textile and apparel value chain, including fibers, yarns, fabrics—ranging from functional materials and sustainable eco‑friendly options to smart textiles and knitted/woven fabrics—as well as trims such as embroidery, lace, linings, buttons, zippers, and ribbons; ready‑to‑wear garments—including men’s, women’s, children’s, sportswear, denim, down jackets, sweaters, underwear, and swimwear; footwear, bags, and accessories like fashionable shoes, leather goods, handbags, scarves, hats, and belts; plus textile machinery and digital solutions such as CAD/CAM systems, pattern‑input platforms, and AI‑driven design tools. Exhibits span everything from conventional garment raw materials to industrial textiles, medical textiles, and specialized protective gear for firefighting, offering a comprehensive view of both the present and future of the textile and apparel sector.
  • Precise matchmaking with high‑quality global buyers, 85% of whom are decision‑makers. The visitor base comprises brand owners, department store buyers, multi‑brand boutiques, retail chains, and importers, with 85% representing purchasing decision‑makers who prioritize quality and design, resulting in stable orders and significant premium pricing potential. The 2025 edition attracted approximately 14,000 attendees, including around 800 international buyers from 60 countries, with European and American buyers accounting for 46.2% of the total. Confirmed attendees include renowned international brands such as Bottega Veneta (Italy), Patagonia (USA), Ralph Lauren (USA), Victoria’s Secret (USA), Arc’teryx (Canada), On Running (Switzerland), Stüssy (USA), Nike, Tesco, Lululemon, and others. Exhibitors gain direct access to core purchasing decision‑makers across Asia, North America, Europe, and the Middle East.
  • A Unique Value Proposition for Chinese Enterprises—The Strategic Engine for Entering the High-End Markets of Japan and South Korea. The Korean market is highly fashion‑sensitive, boasts rapid repurchase rates, and commands premium pricing, making it an ideal platform for building brand image and connecting with high-end buyers. China is a key international delegation at PIS; in 2025, 206 mainland Chinese companies will participate, accounting for approximately 15%–18%, primarily comprising mid‑to‑high‑end apparel, fabric, and design firms. With distinct advantages in craftsmanship, cost‑effectiveness, and swift responsiveness, Chinese apparel serves as a vital gateway to the East Asian high‑end market. Participating companies can engage seamlessly with premium buyers from Korea, Japan, and Southeast Asia, rapidly enhancing their brand visibility and premium pricing power across Asia while staying attuned to cutting‑edge regional trends.
  • A Vanguard for Technological Innovation and Industry Trends. The exhibition focuses on cutting‑edge areas such as high‑performance, eco‑friendly, recyclable, and biodegradable textiles, as well as industrial and medical smart textiles and AI‑driven fashion technologies. The 2025 edition carries the theme “LOOP: Toward Another Sphere,” symbolizing the convergence of technology and sustainability, and the interplay between history and the present, thereby fostering a new textile ecosystem. The event features two dedicated trend‑forum zones—Essence and Taste—highlighting next season’s pivotal textile innovations, alongside Salon de PIS showcasing luxury textiles, and TechSphere concentrating on the integration of textiles with advanced technologies. A series of global forums, specialized seminars, and corporate roadshows provide participating companies with strategic insights into emerging industry trends.
  • An Efficient Business Matching System (BMS). The newly introduced Business Matching System (BMS) has significantly enhanced meeting efficiency, enabling exhibitors to schedule appointments in advance with hard-to‑reach international buyers such as Alo, On Running, and Arc’teryx, allowing them to prepare thoroughly beforehand. Exhibitor YJ Global leveraged BMS to conduct 28 business meetings within just three days. A first-time visitor, buyer from the Swiss brand Odlo, remarked: “This is an exceptionally valuable trade show—I’ve identified new sourcing opportunities.”
  • Seoul’s Geographical and Industrial Advantages. Held at the COEX Convention & Exhibition Center in Seoul, the event is situated in the heart of Gangnam’s premier commercial district. As Asia’s fashion and design hub, Seoul offers avant‑garde designs and superior quality, exerting strong influence throughout the region’s fashion industry. The surrounding area—including COEX Mall, luxury hotels, restaurants, and entertainment venues—provides convenient facilities for business negotiations. Leveraging Seoul’s strategic position as a fashion nexus and a cultural powerhouse of the Hallyu wave, PIS furnishes exhibitors with a robust platform to connect with Korea’s and Asia’s high‑end markets.

Exhibition Review

Preview In SEOUL 2025 (PIS 2025) was successfully held from August 20 to 22 at the COEX Convention & Exhibition Center in Seoul. Hosted by the Korea Fiber Industry Federation, this year’s event was themed “LOOP: Toward Another Sphere,” symbolizing the creation of a sustainable, future-oriented ecosystem at a pivotal moment for the textile and apparel industry. Prior to the opening, exhibitor recruitment reached an all-time high, with applications closing earlier than expected, resulting in over 500 exhibitors and more than 760 booths.

Record-Breaking Exhibition Space and Exhibitor Scale. The event featured 515 exhibitors across 835 booths, including 276 Korean companies and 239 international enterprises from 10 countries. International participants came from China (206 companies), Japan, Taiwan, India, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Indonesia, and other regions. The Chinese delegation was the largest international contingent, with 206 participating firms. The exhibition attracted approximately 14,000 professional visitors, a 7% increase over the previous year, with the second day setting a new record for single-day attendance. Around 800 overseas buyers from 60 countries attended, with European and American buyers accounting for 46.2% of the total.

Strong International Buyer Presence and Successful Debut of Business Matching System. The event drew purchasing executives from globally renowned brands such as Bottega Veneta, Patagonia, Ralph Lauren, Victoria’s Secret, Arc’teryx, On Running, Stüssy, Nike, Tesco, and Lululemon. For the first time, a Business Matching System (BMS) was introduced, significantly enhancing meeting efficiency. Exhibitors could use the platform to schedule appointments with buyers in advance and tailor their presentation materials accordingly. Yoo So-ra, Executive Director of Hyosung TNC, commented: “The BMS allows us to finalize our meeting schedules ahead of time, enabling more thorough preparation. Being able to meet directly with buyers from brands like Alo, On Running, and Arc’teryx—companies we would normally find difficult to approach—is a highly valuable outcome.” Seo Yoon-hee, Manager at YJ Global, completed 28 business meetings through the BMS within three days, adding, “We’ve received enthusiastic feedback on developing products that meet global standards and deliver competitive edge.” Fay Ou-Yang, a buyer representing the Swiss brand Odlo, who attended for the first time, remarked: “This is an extremely valuable exhibition—I’ve identified new sourcing opportunities.”

A Rich Array of Exhibits Highlights Sustainability and Technology as Core Themes. This edition of the show features high-performance, environmentally friendly, recyclable, and biodegradable textiles, alongside industrial and medical smart textiles, as well as AI‑driven fashion‑tech innovations. Special zones include two trend‑focused forum areas—Essence and Taste (showcasing next season’s key textile trends)—Salon de PIS (a premium textile showcase), and TechSphere (dedicated to the convergence of textiles and cutting-edge technologies). Exhibits span traditional apparel fabrics to industrial textiles—including functional materials for medical and firefighting applications—and extend to digital solutions such as intelligent pattern‑input systems and laser‑based technologies.

A Diverse Calendar of Concurrent Events Includes Award Ceremonies Honoring Outstanding Exhibitors. Throughout the event, attendees can participate in a Global Forum, 17 specialized seminars, 18 corporate roadshows, and six guided tours of the TechSphere zone. For the first time, the show introduced several award categories: the Korean Product Certification Awards (honoring six companies), the AI Lookbook Awards (recognizing three firms), and the Outstanding Exhibitor Awards (presented to five exhibitors). The five distinguished winners are DAEYOUNG FABRIC, DAEHAN FABRIC, BAEKSAN JACQUARD, SMART FABRIC, and AZTECHWB. The AI Lookbook Awards were awarded as follows: First Prize to WHITETEX, Second Prize to Woojoo Global, and Third Prize to STYLEM KOREA. Additionally, PIS 2025 has strengthened its indexing capabilities by expanding the 10+ Club (now comprising 27 exhibitors), enhancing environmental certification coverage (with 152 participating companies), and reinforcing Korean product certification (for 11 exhibitors), thereby significantly bolstering support for exhibiting brands.
