With the United States expected to impose import tariffs on various Chinese products, including apparel, orders are likely to shift gradually to other Asian countries. The Exhibition Value of SaigonTex, the Ho Chi Minh City Textile and Apparel Show in Vietnam

  • Vietnam’s and Southeast Asia’s Largest and Longest‑Running Textile and Apparel Industry Event: Co‑organized by the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association, the Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group, and the Exhibition Services Company under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, SaigonTex has been held for more than thirty editions since its inception in the 1990s, making it Vietnam’s most influential textile and apparel trade show. The event is accredited by UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, and is widely recognized as a leading indicator of the development of Vietnam’s textile and apparel sector, as well as a key gateway for global textile companies seeking to enter the Vietnamese and ASEAN markets.
  • A One‑Stop Platform Covering the Entire Industry Chain: The exhibition encompasses the full spectrum of the industry, including fibers and yarns, fabrics and accessories, textile machinery, printing and dyeing equipment, garment manufacturing machinery, CAD/CAM systems, laboratory testing instruments, and more. From raw materials to finished products, and from traditional textile production to smart manufacturing, exhibitors can engage in comprehensive interactions—ranging from technology showcases and brand exposure to business negotiations—within a single venue.
  • Precise Access to Core Buyers and Decision‑Makers in Vietnam and Southeast Asia: At the 2025 edition, over 1,000 exhibiting companies from 20 countries and regions will showcase their offerings across more than 35,000 square meters, attracting over 20,000 professional buyers from 30 countries and regions. The audience includes textile and apparel manufacturers, purchasers, distributors, designers, machinery agents, and other stakeholders spanning the entire procurement ecosystem, enabling exhibitors to connect directly with some of the most influential purchasing groups in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
  • Unique Value for Chinese Enterprises: A Strategic Engine for Expanding into the Vietnamese Market: Vietnam’s textile and apparel industry grows at an annual rate of 13%–20%, with export revenues ranking among the highest globally; however, the country remains heavily reliant on imports for raw materials and machinery. China is Vietnam’s largest supplier of both textile raw materials and manufacturing equipment. Moreover, Vietnam has signed numerous free trade agreements, including CPTPP, EVFTA, and UKVFTA, offering tariff preferences for textile and apparel exports. Chinese textile enterprises can leverage SaigonTex as a platform to enter the Vietnamese market and capitalize on strategic opportunities presented by the ongoing upgrading of Vietnam’s textile and apparel value chain.
  • A Vanguard for Technological Innovation and Industry Trends: Automation in textile machinery, digital printing technologies, eco‑friendly dyeing processes, and functional fabrics are among the highlights at the show. A dedicated Sustainable Textiles Zone showcases environmentally friendly materials and green production techniques. As Vietnam raises its environmental standards and advances its textile industry toward greater intelligence, sustainability, and sophistication, exhibitors can gain valuable insights into these transformative trends.
  • In‑Depth Networking through High‑Level Forums and Industry Resources: Concurrent with the exhibition, industry seminars and technical exchange sessions bring together experts from the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Textile and Apparel Association to share critical information on market policies, industry trends, and technical standards. Exhibiting companies can thus promptly access updates on Vietnam’s textile industry policies, investment climate, and emerging market opportunities.
  • The Strategic Location and Industrial Advantages of Ho Chi Minh City: As Vietnam’s economic hub and its largest textile and apparel production base, Ho Chi Minh City boasts robust industrial infrastructure and a highly efficient international logistics network. Held at the Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center (SECC), SaigonTex capitalizes on the city’s pivotal role as the core region of Vietnam’s textile and apparel industry, providing exhibitors with a strategic platform to connect with both the Vietnamese and broader Southeast Asian markets.

Exhibition Review

The SaigonTex 2026 Vietnam Textile and Apparel Industry Exhibition was successfully held from April 8 to 11 at the Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center (SECC) in Ho Chi Minh City. Co-organized by the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association, the Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group, and the Exhibition Services Company under the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, this event is the most significant annual platform for technological exchange and business matchmaking in Vietnam’s and Southeast Asia’s textile and apparel sectors.

In terms of exhibition scale, the show covered 38,000 square meters—up 8.6% from the previous edition—and brought together more than 1,100 exhibiting companies from 22 countries and regions. Exhibitors spanned the entire value chain, including fiber and yarn producers, fabric and accessory suppliers, textile machinery manufacturers, printing and dyeing equipment providers, garment machinery makers, CAD/CAM system developers, and laboratory testing equipment suppliers. The event attracted over 22,000 professional buyers from 32 countries and regions, a 10% increase compared with the prior edition. International buyers accounted for approximately 35%, primarily from China, India, South Korea, Japan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Myanmar, and other markets.

The exhibitor lineup showcased internationalization and industry leadership. Leading textile machinery and fabric manufacturers from China, India, South Korea, Japan, Germany, Italy, Taiwan, and other regions were all present. The Chinese delegation continued to grow, with over 400 Chinese companies participating and presenting end-to-end solutions—from spinning and weaving to printing, dyeing, and garment manufacturing. The Indian pavilion, organized by the Indian Textile Industries Federation, featured more than 30 Indian firms showcasing cotton yarns, fabrics, and textile machinery. The Korean contingent focused on functional fabrics and advanced dyeing technologies, while the German and Italian exhibits highlighted high‑end textile machinery and smart manufacturing solutions. Vietnam’s national flagship, the Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex), brought together over 30 affiliated enterprises, expanding its booth space by 20% compared with the previous edition.

Exhibits were diverse and comprehensive, covering the entire textile value chain. This year’s program included a wide array of textile machinery—spinning, weaving, printing, finishing, and garment‑making equipment—as well as textile chemicals, dyes, and auxiliaries, alongside an extensive range of fabrics (cotton, linen, silk, wool, synthetic fibers, knitted textiles, and functional fabrics), fibers, yarns, and accessories. Automated textile machinery, digital printing technologies, and eco‑friendly dyeing processes emerged as key highlights. The sustainable textiles zone doubled in size, spotlighting environmentally friendly materials and green production techniques, drawing significant interest from European brand buyers. For the first time, a dedicated smart factory solutions area showcased the latest advancements in the digital transformation of the textile industry. Local Vietnamese textile companies presented organic cotton fabrics and recycled‑fiber products manufactured using eco‑conscious processes, earning high praise from international brand purchasers.

A rich calendar of concurrent events. Over 20 industry seminars and technical workshops were held during the exhibition, featuring experts from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association, the International Textile Manufacturers Federation, and other organizations. Topics addressed critical issues such as Vietnam’s textile and apparel industry development strategy for 2026–2030, export opportunities under the CPTPP and EVFTA agreements, the impact of EU circular economy regulations on Vietnam’s supply chains, and pathways toward digital transformation in the sector. The event also hosted, for the first time, the “Vietnam–China Textile Industry Matchmaking Forum,” bringing together over 50 Chinese textile machinery and fabric manufacturers and Vietnamese apparel producers for one‑on‑one discussions, resulting in multiple preliminary cooperation agreements.

Vietnam’s textile and apparel industry continues to grow. At the opening ceremony, the Vice President of the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association announced that Vietnam’s textile and apparel exports surpassed US$44 billion in 2025, up 12.3% year over year—a record high. Vietnam has now overtaken Bangladesh to become the world’s second-largest exporter of textiles and apparel, behind only China. The country’s 2026 export target stands at US$48 billion. With the full implementation of free trade agreements such as EVFTA and CPTPP, Vietnam’s textile and apparel sector is undergoing rapid upgrading, driving sustained demand for high‑end textile machinery, functional fabrics, and eco‑friendly dyeing technologies.

Strong responses from exhibitors and the industry. Exhibiting companies generally reported high‑quality professional buyers with clear purchasing intentions. A representative from a Chinese textile machinery firm noted that during the exhibition, they engaged with dozens of professional buyer delegations from Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Indonesia, and other countries, securing on‑site contracts totaling over US$2 million. Meanwhile, a representative of a South Korean functional fabric company observed rapidly growing demand among Vietnamese apparel manufacturers for premium sportswear fabrics and eco‑friendly textiles, highlighting how the exhibition provided an effective platform for expanding into the Vietnamese market. Attendees agreed that SaigonTex, as Vietnam’s most influential specialized textile and apparel trade show, has become a strategic hub for companies to showcase their offerings, connect with customers, gain insights into emerging trends, and expand their presence across Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
