Exhibition Review
The 2025 SEMA Show was successfully held from November 4 to 7 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Hosted by the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), this year’s event was themed “Innovation Driving the Future of the Industry” and stood as the premier annual gathering for technological exchange and business matchmaking in the global automotive modification and aftermarket sectors.
In terms of exhibition scale, the show spanned a total area of 4.5 to 4.6 million square feet, occupying all halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center as well as portions of the Westgate Resort. This marked the first time since 2019 that the event expanded into the Westgate Resort, and also the inaugural establishment of an International Pavilion, further solidifying its role as a global platform for business networking. The show brought together over 2,300 exhibiting brands, including 500 first-time participants, and attracted more than 150,000 industry professionals from over 140 countries and regions. Exhibitors ranged from mainstream automakers such as Ford, Honda, Mopar/Stellantis, Nissan, and Toyota, to renowned brands like Holley, Hoonigan, SPARQ, and WeatherTech. More than 1,300 new products were showcased in the New Product Showcase, competing across 15 award categories.
The exhibitor lineup exhibited hallmarks of concentration among leading players and internationalization. Ford unveiled its Custom Garage project vehicle, the Ford Maverick 300T, alongside a suite of performance parts and engine upgrades specifically designed for the F-150 Raptor R. Mopar/Stellantis returned with several concept vehicles, continuing its tradition of showcasing the 2024 Plymouth GTX electric conversion and the Ram concept car. Nissan and Infiniti jointly presented a diverse portfolio, ranging from high-performance off-road SUVs to high-power Infiniti performance modifications. Toyota maintained its long-standing participation, displaying a comprehensive product line—from TRD accessories to exclusive concept cars. Hoonigan, in collaboration with Subaru Motorsports USA, made its debut appearance with the Subaru Brataroo 9500 Turbo—a reimagined take on the iconic 1978 Subaru BRAT. Tire manufacturer General Tire participated with its two core brands, CELIMO and TBBTIRES, highlighting off-road tires such as the PREVAIL A/T, high-performance passenger car tires like the SALIENT CS210/CS580, and high‑temperature track tires including the GSPORT‑01, alongside commercial tire lines such as the CTL20, CAL20, and CLD01.
Exhibit highlights abounded, with technological integration and personalized customization emerging as central themes. This year’s show featured groundbreaking innovations spanning internal combustion engines, electrification, hydrogen power, hybrid systems, and other propulsion technologies. Ford showcased performance components and engine upgrades for the F-150 Raptor R. In the realm of custom modifications, Ringbrothers unveiled their 1971 Aston Martin DBS ‘Octavia,’ exemplifying how high-end bespoke tuning can now meet OEM‑level standards for concept cars. The industry clearly demonstrated a trend toward transitioning to GM’s Gen V LT platform, with Ford’s 5.0L Coyote engine remaining a popular choice. Advanced technologies such as 3D scanning, CAD modeling, and 3D printing have become indispensable tools for premium customizations, lowering barriers to entry and becoming increasingly accessible to smaller workshops. Interior design standards have risen markedly, with customized digital instrument clusters and integrated cockpit designs becoming the new norm. Classic wheel cover designs are experiencing a revival, as mainstream wheel manufacturers—including Forgeline, Schott, and US Mags—introduce new OE‑style collections. Color trends reflect growing diversity, with deep metallic blues and distinctive metallic greens garnering particular attention. Hoonigan hosted daily Burnyard performances in the outdoor activity zone, featuring Formula Drift drivers and Australian‑style modified cars delivering thrilling burnout displays. HorsePower Rodeo made its debut in the West Hall, offering a multidisciplinary program blending drifting, drag racing, and muscle car demonstrations, while SPARQ provided a 145,000‑square‑foot drift‑focused activity area.
Complementary events were rich and varied. The SEMA Fest music festival took place on November 7, featuring performances by Queens of the Stone Age, The Black Crowes, Neon Trees, and others, seamlessly integrating automotive modification showcases, drift demonstrations, and lifestyle elements. SEMA Live broadcast 31 hours of live coverage, encompassing breaking news, new vehicle unveilings, and the Battle of the Builders competition. Winners of the Battle of the Builders were crowned across four categories: Hot Rod & Hot Rod Truck, 4 Wheel Drive & Off-Road, Sport Compact/Import Performance/Luxury & Exotic, and BFGoodrich Young Guns. The VRX Speed Fest simulator competition made its debut, fusing virtual racing with real-world experiences. Road to SEMA launched for the first time, allowing top automotive creators to arrive at the show driving their custom-built vehicles and present them on site. FutureTech Studio returned to the Central Hall, exploring four key future mobility themes: fuel, drivetrain, manufacturing processes, and technology. Over 80 educational sessions addressed pressing topics such as automotive modification trends, ADAS solutions, electrification transitions, alternative energy propulsion, and market policies. The New Product Showcase was held on the lower level of the South Hall, featuring hundreds of companies’ latest innovative offerings. Additionally, the event included the unveiling of a Matchbox‑customized Jeep Wrangler co‑created by Mattel and RealTruck, the SEMA Industry Honors Awards ceremony, and Nitrox Circus Moto Mayhem motorcycle stunt performances.
