Profile

The Chengdu Tea Industry Exhibition—Chengdu Tea Expo (Sichuan International Tea Expo) was first launched in 2012 and is held twice annually, in spring and autumn. The spring edition, the Sichuan International Tea Expo, serves as a professional and effective platform for fostering the development of a tea industry worth hundreds of billions of yuan, showcasing Sichuan’s tea brands, and enhancing the visibility and influence of Sichuan tea.

The autumn edition, the Chengdu International Tea Expo, is the only tea expo in Western China to have received UFI certification, making it one of the three major tea expos accredited by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry.

This year’s event focuses on the deep integration of “tea culture, tea industry, and tea technology,” featuring three thematic pavilions—the National Famous Teas Pavilion (comprising two halls), the Tea Ceramics and Aesthetics Pavilion—and specialized zones dedicated to international black tea, jasmine tea, new‑generation tea beverages, coffee, and other specialty categories. The exhibition comprehensively covers the entire value chain, from tea production and processing to sales and cultural experiences. On site, tens of thousands of high‑quality exhibits are showcased, including six major tea categories, raw materials and finished products for new‑generation tea drinks, tea utensils, tea space design, and tea‑related derivative products. In addition to traditional tea varieties, the event highlights cutting‑edge applications of tea technology and innovative cross‑category tea‑plus offerings.

With an exhibition area of 35,000 square meters, this edition has attracted nearly 800 reputable domestic and international enterprises. Through full‑chain industry displays, multidimensional exchanges, and immersive experiential activities, the event establishes a robust platform for the high‑quality development of the tea sector, while also offering residents an autumnal feast that seamlessly blends the aroma of tea, the elegance of tea ware, and rich cultural traditions.

In addition to its extensive tea offerings, the Chengdu Tea Industry Exhibition—Chengdu Tea Expo (Sichuan International Tea Expo) is concurrently hosting an exhibition of exquisite Yixing zisha ceramic tea wares, bringing together renowned porcelain and pottery traditions from across China, including Jingdezhen ceramics, Yixing zisha teapots, Longquan celadon, Dehua white porcelain, and Jianyang Jianzhan, alongside celebrated brands such as Weiming Kiln, Yongfengyuan, and Tonghua. The Exhibition Value of the Sichuan International Tea Expo

  • China’s Largest and Most Influential Specialty Tea Event in Western China: Co-hosted by authoritative institutions including the Sichuan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Sichuan Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology, the Sichuan Provincial Department of Commerce, and the Sichuan Provincial Supply and Marketing Cooperative, the Sichuan International Tea Expo is one of the largest and most influential tea exhibitions in Western China. Anchored in Chengdu, it serves as a regional hub, reaching across the western provinces and extending nationwide, and is widely recognized within the industry as a key indicator of trends in the Western Chinese tea market and a central platform for tea companies seeking to expand into the Southwest.
  • A One-Stop Procurement Platform Covering the Entire Industry Chain: The expo showcases a comprehensive range of products, from green tea, black tea, dark tea, white tea, oolong tea, yellow tea, and scented teas, to tea utensils, tea ware, packaging, machinery, space design, and cultural derivatives—spanning the full spectrum of the tea industry. From raw tea leaves to advanced processing, and from traditional brewing to modern tea beverages, exhibitors can engage in end-to-end interactions, including product displays, brand exposure, and business negotiations.
  • Precise Access to Core Buyers and Distribution Channels in Western China: As one of China’s major tea-producing provinces, Sichuan ranks among the top nationwide in both tea plantation area and output, while Chengdu stands as the consumption and distribution center for tea in the West. The event attracts a professional audience that includes tea distributors, operators of teahouses and tea shops, owners of tea spaces, supermarket buyers, e‑commerce procurement specialists, group-buying clients, and import/export traders—key channels that drive demand. Exhibitors gain direct access to tens of thousands of qualified professionals with genuine purchasing intent, enabling efficient order generation and channel expansion.
  • Unique Strategic Value for Tea Companies: A Catalyst for Expanding into the Western Market: The Western region is one of China’s fastest-growing tea consumption markets, and Chengdu, known as the “Capital of New‑Style Tea,” boasts a rich tea culture and a large, youthful consumer base. The Sichuan Tea Expo serves as a pivotal platform for tea companies to enter the Western market, connect with high‑quality distributors, and enhance their brand presence. During the event, dedicated sessions such as the Distributor‑Buyer Matchmaking Forum and New Product Launches provide invaluable opportunities for face‑to‑face discussions with leading distributors across the region.
  • A Vanguard for the Fusion of Traditional Tea Culture and Innovation: The expo highlights diverse offerings, including time-honored teas, innovative beverage concepts, aesthetic tea ware, and cutting-edge tea space designs. As younger consumers grow increasingly familiar with and receptive to tea, new formats such as “new‑style tea drinks,” “fast‑paced brewing,” and “tea‑alcohol blends” are emerging. Participating companies can leverage this platform to identify industry trends toward youthfulness, fashionability, and convenience, seizing opportunities ahead of broader market shifts.
  • In‑Depth Connections Through High‑Profile Forums and Industry Resources: Concurrent with the expo, a series of events—including the Western China Tea Industry Summit, renowned tea tastings, tea art performance competitions, tea space design contests, and seminars on tea‑tourism integration—are held, featuring speeches by industry experts, intangible cultural heritage custodians, corporate leaders, and teahouse operators. These platforms enable exhibitors to promptly access critical insights on policy developments, consumer trends, and marketing innovations shaping the tea sector.
  • Chengdu’s Geographical and Industrial Advantages: As the capital of Sichuan Province, a national central city, and a major consumption hub in Western China, Chengdu boasts a profound tea‑culture heritage and a substantial tea‑drinking market. Leveraging its status as the “Capital of New‑Style Tea” and its strategic position as a regional distribution center for Western China’s tea industry, the Sichuan Tea Expo provides exhibitors with a powerful platform to engage with both regional and national tea markets. Moreover, the convenient air connectivity offered by Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport and Tianfu International Airport further facilitates participation by overseas tea businesses.

The 2025 Sichuan International Tea Expo (Chengdu Tea Expo) was successfully held from May 9 to 12 at the Chengdu Century City New International Convention and Exhibition Center. Co-hosted by the Sichuan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Sichuan Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology, the Sichuan Provincial Department of Commerce, and the Sichuan Provincial Supply and Marketing Cooperative Union, the expo was themed “Tea for the World—Sharing Development” and stood as the most significant annual showcase, exchange, and procurement event for the tea industry in Western China. Concurrent with the expo were a series of accompanying events, including the Western China Tea Industry Summit Forum, a renowned tea tasting session, and a tea‑art performance competition.

With an exhibition area spanning 50,000 square meters, the event brought together over 800 exhibiting enterprises, occupying multiple halls within the Chengdu Century City New International Convention and Exhibition Center. The exhibitor lineup featured Sichuan’s celebrated tea brands such as Zhuyeqing, Emeishan Xueya, Mengdingshan Tea, Ya’an Tibetan Tea, and Chuanhong Gongfu, alongside nationally renowned tea companies including Dayi, Xiaguan Tuocha, Baishaxi, Zhengshantang, and Pinpinxiang. Overseas exhibitors and buyers from more than 20 countries and regions—including India, Sri Lanka, Japan, South Korea, Kenya, and the United Kingdom—also attended, resulting in over 60,000 professional visitors during the four-day event, among whom core buyers such as tea distributors, teahouse operators, and e‑commerce purchasers accounted for more than 70%.

The Sichuan Famous Teas Pavilion emerged as the highlight of this year’s expo. Zhuyeqing showcased its “Lundao” premium green tea series and the “Pinwei” mass‑market green tea line, with dedicated tasting and tea‑art demonstration zones that drew large crowds of distributors and consumers eager to experience the offerings. Emeishan Xueya presented its “Xueya” and “Chan Cha” series, emphasizing high‑altitude ecological origins and Buddhist cultural themes. Mengdingshan Tea exhibited historic classics like “Mengding Ganlu” and “Mengding Huangya,” while Ya’an Tibetan Tea highlighted its “Jinjian” and “Kangzhuan” series. Several Sichuan tea enterprises noted that the branding process is accelerating, with leading brands such as Zhuyeqing and Emeishan Xueya already establishing strong market presence nationwide.

The Pu’er Tea and Dark Tea Pavilion also enjoyed robust attendance. Dayi displayed its classic Pu’er blends such as “7542” and “7572,” along with premium offerings like “Canghai” and “Xuanyuan Hao.” Xiaguan Tuocha introduced traditional products including “Xiaofa Tuo” and “Class A Tuo Cha,” as well as commemorative teas like “Centennial Tuo Cha.” Baishaxi unveiled its dark tea series, featuring “Qianliang Tea” and “Fuzhuan Brick Tea,” while Xiangyi emphasized its “Golden Flower Fermentation Repository” concept. Many tea companies reported that Pu’er and dark teas enjoy stable consumer bases in Western markets, with collectors’ appeal and health‑related attributes remaining key areas of interest for consumers.

The Tea Utensils and Ceramics Pavilion attracted considerable attention. The Yixing Zisha delegation brought dozens of master artisans and their works, covering everything from traditional plain wares to floral designs and intricately carved pieces. The Jingdezhen ceramics contingent showcased a diverse array of tea utensils, including blue-and-white, famille rose, and colored glaze styles. Meanwhile, the Japanese iron kettle pavilion featured numerous products from renowned brands such as Nanbu Ironware and Shengrong Tang. Several tea‑utensil distributors remarked that, amid the ongoing upgrade of tea culture consumption, consumers are placing ever‑higher demands on both aesthetics and quality, leaving ample room for growth in the high‑end handcrafted tea‑ware market.

The Western China Tea Industry Summit Forum gathered industry insights. With the theme “Branding and Internationalization of Sichuan Tea,” the forum welcomed distinguished guests, including leaders from the Sichuan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the president of the China Tea Circulation Association, the chairman of Zhuyeqing, and the marketing director of Dayi, who delivered keynote speeches. Discussions centered on topics such as “Pathways to High‑Quality Development of the Sichuan Tea Industry,” “Insights into Traditional Tea Business from Emerging Tea Beverage Trends,” and “Trends Toward Youth‑Oriented Tea Consumption.” Experts underscored that Sichuan tea benefits from unique natural endowments and profound cultural heritage, making branding and internationalization pivotal directions for future growth.

The Renowned Tea Tasting Session Was Fully Booked. Held on the second day of the expo, the tasting session invited brands including Zhuyeqing, Emeishan Xueya, Mengdingshan Tea, Dayi, and Baishaxi to host exclusive tasting events, each drawing hundreds of professional attendees. Beyond showcasing each brand’s premium products and signature craftsmanship, the sessions also featured intangible cultural heritage inheritors who provided live explanations and demonstrations, making them one of the most popular activities throughout the event.

As China’s tea industry accelerates its journey toward branding, youth‑orientation, and internationalization, Sichuan tea—an integral pillar of the national tea sector—is poised for unprecedented opportunities. The Sichuan Tea Expo, as the most influential specialized tea trade show in Western China, has become a strategic platform for companies to unveil new products, connect with clients, gain market insights, and expand their reach. The next edition of the Sichuan Tea Expo is scheduled to take place in May 2026 at the Chengdu Century City New International Convention and Exhibition Center.
