The Exhibition Value of the Uzbekistan Metallurgy Show

  • Uz Metal Mash Expo is the largest and most specialized metallurgy and metalworking industry event in Central Asia. Since its inception in 2008, it has been successfully held for more than a decade and is widely recognized by the industry as a leading indicator of trends in Central Asian metallurgy and a strategic gateway for global companies seeking to enter the Uzbek market and neighboring regions. Organized by IEG Exhibitions, the show enjoys strong support from official bodies such as the State Committee for Geology and Mineral Resources of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade. Held annually at the Tashkent National Exhibition Center, it serves as a central platform for connecting global metallurgical supply-chain resources, showcasing cutting-edge technological advances, and driving regional industry development.
  • The core value of participation lies in its unique ability to connect with the rapidly growing Central Asian market and its highly concentrated pool of professional buyers. Situated in the heart of Central Asia, Uzbekistan is a key country along the Belt and Road Initiative. It boasts abundant mineral resources, with reserves of gold, natural gas, coal, and uranium ranking among the highest worldwide, totaling an estimated $3.5 trillion in mineral value. With the continued advancement of the Belt and Road, infrastructure development in Uzbekistan is accelerating across the board, driving robust demand for metallurgical equipment, metalworking technologies, and cast products. Each year, the exhibition attracts exhibitors from over 20 countries, including Germany, China, Russia, Turkey, and Kazakhstan. In 2025, the event drew more than 170 exhibitors and 4,135 professional visitors from 19 countries. Ninety-six percent of attendees reported establishing new supplier or partner relationships, while 98% identified products and services of interest.
  • The exhibition provides a one-stop commercial platform covering the entire metallurgy and casting value chain. Exhibits span metallurgical production equipment—including ore beneficiation, sintering, ironmaking, steelmaking, continuous casting, and rolling—casting technologies (melting furnaces, molding materials, pouring systems, and casting finishing), metalworking machinery (cutting machines, forming machines, welding and cutting equipment), metal materials and products (plates, pipes, profiles, wire, stainless steel, special steels), refractory materials and metallurgical auxiliaries, as well as testing and control systems. From raw material processing to finished product manufacturing, and from traditional metallurgy to intelligent manufacturing, the exhibition creates a complete industrial ecosystem closed-loop.
  • Keeping pace with three major industry trends—technological innovation, industrial upgrading, and international cooperation—the exhibition has established itself as a hub for deep integration among industry, academia, research, and end-users. Concurrent with the show, the Uzbekistan International Mining and Metallurgy Forum brings together global industry experts and decision-makers to engage in in-depth discussions on cutting-edge topics such as metallurgical technology innovation, automation of mining equipment, and digitalization of metalworking processes. The German national pavilion annually showcases high-end, premium-quality mining and metallurgical equipment alongside advanced metalworking technologies, featuring 16 leading German companies. Chinese exhibitors also form a substantial contingent, with “Made in China” products now accounting for 45% of Uzbekistan’s total machine tool imports, making China the country’s second-largest trading partner, with nearly 1,600 Chinese-invested enterprises operating within Uzbekistan.
  • For Chinese enterprises, this exhibition represents a strategic gateway to tap into the Central Asian market, connect with international resources, and demonstrate their innovative capabilities. China and Uzbekistan exhibit strong complementarity in areas such as mineral resource extraction and metallurgical equipment manufacturing, with Uzbekistan’s demand for machinery and metalworking products steadily increasing. As China’s second-largest trading partner, Uzbekistan hosts nearly 1,600 Chinese-invested enterprises. Participating companies can leverage this platform to access Central Asia’s core procurement networks and seize early opportunities presented by the rapid growth of Uzbekistan’s metallurgy and casting industries.

Review

The 16th Uzbekistan International Exhibition on Steel, Metallurgy and Metalworking (Uz Metal Mash Expo 2025) was successfully held from April 2 to 4, 2025, at the Uzbekistan Exhibition Center in Tashkent. This edition of the exhibition was organized by IEG Exhibitions and received strong support from official bodies including the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Mining and Geology, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

In terms of scale, the event brought together over 170 exhibiting companies from 12 countries. International exhibitors represented Germany, China, India, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Latvia, Mongolia, Russia, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and other nations, attracting 4,135 professional visitors from 19 countries and regions. Among the exhibitors, leading Uzbek enterprises formed a national joint pavilion, while the German national pavilion participated for many consecutive years. Chinese manufacturers made a prominent appearance as a large-scale delegation. The Austrian national pavilion showcased five leading companies, including Aichelin Group, a global leader in heat treatment technology, and ATM Recyclingsystems, a developer of metal recycling systems.

This year’s exhibition featured numerous highlights, with international participation and high professional standards serving as its central attractions. Local industry leaders such as the Ministry of Mining and Geology of Uzbekistan, Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Plant, and Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Plant joined forces to present a national pavilion, showcasing the latest advancements in Uzbekistan’s metallurgical sector. The German national pavilion gathered 16 German companies, demonstrating cutting-edge mining and metallurgical equipment as well as metalworking technologies. Chinese enterprises exhibited an extensive array of products, including mining equipment, mineral processing machinery, metallurgical apparatus, and metalworking machine tools. Meanwhile, twelve Iranian knowledge-based firms, supported by the Iranian National Innovation Fund, presented their most recent innovations in metallurgy and mechanical engineering. Kyushu Metals, a company with deep expertise in the metals sector, unveiled a series of products representing the forefront of industry innovation, engaging in in-depth exchanges and exploring collaboration opportunities with global peers.

A rich program of concurrent events created a high‑level platform for industry dialogue. Alongside the exhibition, the 7th Uzbekistan International Forum on Mining and Metallurgy was held, featuring nine thematic sessions and bringing together more than 50 speakers. Over 450 delegates from 17 countries attended, discussing pressing issues such as automation in mining equipment, technological innovation in metallurgy, digitalization of metalworking processes, and green metallurgy.

The professional audience was exceptionally strong, with buyers demonstrating high quality and intent. Post‑exhibition surveys revealed that 90% of professional visitors reported making purchasing decisions following the event, 96% established new supplier or partner relationships during the show, and 98% identified products and services of interest while gaining valuable industry insights. Exhibiting companies widely acknowledged the high caliber of the professional audience, clear procurement objectives, and the significant effectiveness of on‑site business matchmaking.

The exhibition yielded substantial results and generated enthusiastic responses across the industry. Attendees agreed that Uz Metal Mash Expo is not only an excellent platform for brand promotion and commercial networking but also a crucial hub for understanding trends in Central Asia’s metallurgical sector and exploring international cooperation and technological innovation. Chinese-made metalworking machine tools now account for 45% of Uzbekistan’s imports, meaning that one out of every two imported machines originates from China—underscoring the robust competitiveness of Chinese metallurgical equipment in the Central Asian market.
