Exhibition Review
The Vietnam Industrial Machinery and Machine Tool Metalworking Exhibition (VINAMAC EXPO) 2025 was successfully held in May at the Hanoi International Exhibition Center (ICE). Co-organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency, and the Vietnam Mechanical Engineering Association, the event was themed “Industry 4.0—A New Era for Made in Vietnam” and stood as the most significant annual platform for technological exchange and business matchmaking in Vietnam’s industrial machinery sector. Concurrent with the exhibition, a series of related activities were staged, including the Vietnam Industrial Development Forum, the China–Vietnam Machinery Industry Matchmaking Session, and a seminar on intelligent manufacturing technologies.
With an exhibition space spanning 15,000 square meters, the show brought together over 450 exhibiting companies from more than 20 countries and regions, including China, Japan, South Korea, Germany, the United States, Italy, Singapore, Thailand, India, and others. Among them, Chinese enterprises numbered over 200, forming the largest international delegation. Large-scale participation was also seen from the Japanese, Korean, German, and Taiwan delegations. Over the three-day event, the exhibition welcomed more than 25,000 professional visitors, over 80% of whom were factory procurement managers, equipment distributors, and technical engineers.
The Chinese delegation emerged as the standout highlight of this edition. The Shandong Provincial Department of Commerce organized more than 30 machine tool and machinery enterprises to present a unified “Made in Shandong” image, showcasing products ranging from CNC machine tools and laser cutting machines to industrial robots. Meanwhile, the Jiangsu Provincial Trade Promotion Agency focused on automated equipment and precision molds, with several offerings making their Vietnamese market debut. The Guangdong Provincial Department of Commerce, under the theme “Made in Guangdong,” brought nearly 40 machinery and equipment firms to the show. According to the organizers, on-site deal commitments from Chinese exhibitors exceeded US$50 million, representing approximately a 20% increase compared to the previous edition.
CNC machine tools and automation sections drew exceptional attention. Shenyang Machine Tool exhibited its i5 intelligent CNC system along with a complementary vertical machining center, attracting numerous local Vietnamese manufacturers eager to learn more. Dalian Machine Tool showcased its horizontal machining centers and CNC lathes, tailored to meet the demands of Vietnam’s automotive components and mold‑making industries. Guangzhou CNC presented its self-developed industrial robot solutions, demonstrating applications such as welding, material handling, and palletizing on site. Haitian Precision Machinery unveiled its high-speed gantry machining center, ideal for processing large molds and aerospace components.
Laser processing equipment also captured significant interest. Han’s Laser displayed its 20 kW fiber laser cutting machine, offering a live demonstration of thick‑plate cutting; both cutting speed and cut quality received high praise from industry professionals. Bond Laser introduced its range of tube laser cutting machines, addressing the needs of Vietnam’s furniture and steel structure sectors. Hongshi Laser highlighted its laser welding robots and handheld laser welders, the latter particularly favored by Vietnamese SMEs for their ease of operation and cost‑effectiveness.
The Vietnam Industrial Development Forum gathered leading industry insights. The forum featured keynote speeches by Nguyen Van Hoi, Director General of the Industrial Bureau at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam; Nguyen Quang Tuan, Chairman of the Vietnam Mechanical Engineering Association; and representatives from the China Machine Tool Industry Association. In his address, Nguyen Van Hoi stated, “Vietnam is vigorously advancing its ‘Make in Vietnam’ strategy, aiming to raise the manufacturing sector’s share of GDP to over 30% by 2030. We welcome international companies to invest in Vietnam, establish production facilities, and engage in technological collaborations.” The forum also provided in-depth briefings on Vietnam’s investment policies for industrial parks, preferential measures for foreign investors, and requirements for local sourcing.
The China–Vietnam Machinery Industry Matchmaking Session yielded substantial results. Held on the second day of the exhibition, the session invited more than 50 member enterprises of the Vietnam Mechanical Engineering Association to engage in one‑on‑one discussions with Chinese exhibitors. Topics covered included machine tool procurement, automation upgrades, custom mold development, and component supply chain integration. Preliminary statistics indicate that over 80 cooperation agreements were reached during the event, with total committed investment exceeding US$30 million. Le Van Thanh, Vice President of the Vietnam Mechanical Engineering Association, remarked, “Chinese machinery and equipment offer clear advantages in terms of cost‑effectiveness, delivery timelines, and after‑sales service, making them the preferred choice for Vietnamese enterprises seeking to modernize their equipment and expand production capacity.”
