The Exhibition Value of the World Manufacturing Convention (WMC) in Hefei
- One of China’s highest‑level and most influential national events in the manufacturing sector: The World Manufacturing Convention (WMC), an important international conference approved by the State Council, is co‑hosted by the People’s Government of Anhui Province, the National Strategic Advisory Committee on Building a Manufacturing Powerhouse, the China Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, and the Global Alliance of SMEs. Since its inaugural edition in Hefei in 2018, the WMC has been held eight times consecutively. In 2019, General Secretary Xi Jinping personally sent a congratulatory letter, setting a new benchmark for the event at an even higher starting point and on a higher level. Over the years, the WMC has evolved into a premier platform for high‑end exchanges, deepened cooperation, and shared value creation in the global manufacturing industry, widely recognized within the sector as a leading indicator of China’s manufacturing development.
- A one‑stop exhibition platform covering the entire industrial chain: The convention features ten major thematic pavilions—covering areas such as Major National Equipment, Intelligent Connected New Energy Vehicles, Smart Robotics, Digital Economy, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Machine Tools and Welding/Cutting, Automotive Supply Chain and Semiconductors, Biopharmaceuticals and Health Technology, Food Industry, and Plastics Industry & Low‑Carbon Circular Economy—as well as an interactive exhibition zone showcasing unmanned systems. From cutting‑edge national projects to intelligent manufacturing, from traditional industries to emerging sectors, exhibitors can seamlessly integrate technology demonstrations, brand exposure, and business negotiations under one roof.
- Precise matchmaking with global key buyers and industrial chain resources: At the 2025 edition, the WMC attracted 659 international delegates from 53 countries and regions, marking the highest number of participating nations, regions, and foreign guests in its history. A total of 735 cooperative projects were facilitated, with combined investment totaling RMB 380.2 billion, including 647 projects in ten emerging industries amounting to RMB 329.6 billion. Concurrent commercial exhibitions drew 680 enterprises from 19 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, showcasing over 12,000 exhibits. More than 5,000 preliminary cooperation agreements were reached on site, with transaction values approaching RMB 1.27 billion.
- Unique value for Chinese enterprises—strategic engine for aligning with national strategies and expanding global markets: The WMC hosts major events such as the Forum on Building a Manufacturing Powerhouse, the “Central Enterprises Visit Anhui” initiative, the Symposium on Cooperation between Anhui Province and Central Enterprises, the Meeting on Linking Anhui’s Emerging Industries with Multinational Corporations, the Exchange and Cooperation Meeting on Manufacturing between Anhui, Hong Kong, and Macao, the Promotion Conference on Industrial Cooperation between Anhui and Taiwan, the Matching Session for Overseas Innovation Projects, and the Exchange and Cooperation Forum for Private Manufacturing Enterprises. These activities provide exhibitors with invaluable opportunities to engage deeply with national ministries, central state‑owned enterprises, multinational corporations, and investment institutions. Through this platform, Chinese companies can showcase their proprietary technologies, access global resources, secure policy support, and seize early advantages in the pursuit of high‑quality manufacturing development.
- Frontier of technological innovation and industry trends: The exhibition features 182 cutting‑edge “national treasures” and scientific achievements, including the fourth‑generation Benyuan Wukong quantum computer, flying cars, a universal technical platform for intelligent robots, Visionox’s smart pixelation technology, and Jinshi solid‑state batteries—representing the international forefront of innovation. In 2025, exhibits from emerging and future industries accounted for 62% of the total, with 466 first‑time launches, up 37% year over year. Intelligent products such as humanoid robots, robotic chemists, connected vehicles, and smart home devices vividly illustrate the clear trend toward intelligent and green transformation in manufacturing.
- Deep integration of high‑level forums and industry resources: Concurrent with the main event, the WMC hosts 35 specialized activities, including the Opening Ceremony and Keynote Speeches, the Forum on Building a Manufacturing Powerhouse, collaborative initiatives for developing future network industries, and a meeting to explore integrated application scenarios of “AI + Manufacturing.” Distinguished guests—including foreign dignitaries and government officials, leaders of national ministries, representatives of international organizations and business associations, executives from Fortune Global 500 companies and multinational corporations, as well as academicians and experts—participate in in‑depth discussions on advancing intelligent manufacturing, fostering industry collaboration, and exploring the latest trends in AI and related fields.
- Hefei’s locational and industrial advantages: The WMC is held at the Hefei Binhu International Convention and Exhibition Center, where the permanent venue of the World Manufacturing Convention has been established. As a sub‑center of the Yangtze River Delta, Hefei has attracted seven leading automobile manufacturers, including Chery Group, NIO, Volkswagen Anhui, BYD Hefei, and JAC Group, along with more than 1,600 large‑scale automotive component suppliers. In 2025, Anhui Province’s total vehicle output is projected to reach 3.6865 million units, with 1.7941 million being new‑energy vehicles—both figures ranking first nationwide. Leveraging Anhui’s strategic position as a major manufacturing province and the policy dividends of Yangtze River Delta integration, the WMC offers exhibitors a strategic platform for connecting with both domestic and global markets.
