The Wuhan International Water Technology Exhibition (WTE) aims to advance innovation and industrial development in the water sector, while strengthening exchanges and cooperation among domestic and international enterprises.It seeks to drive the modernization and upgrading of China’s water treatment plants and water supply systems, enhancing the reliability, safety, and automation of operations, thereby delivering high-quality, energy-efficient, and highly effective water supply and achieving significant economic and social benefits.

With the rapid growth of the global population and ongoing socio-economic development, water resource challenges have become increasingly acute. Today, large segments of the world’s population live in regions facing water scarcity, often lacking access to safe drinking water. Coupled with the intensification of global climate change—resulting in more frequent extreme weather events such as floods and droughts—these issues pose formidable challenges to global water security. In response, the United Nations calls on countries and regions worldwide to take collective action, share cutting-edge concepts and technological advances in water management, and implement comprehensive, environmentally sustainable measures that conserve resources and protect ecosystems, with the goal of achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals related to water.

To address the shared global challenge of water security, China embraces a new development philosophy characterized by innovation, coordination, green practices, openness, and inclusiveness. Adhering to the guiding principles of “water conservation first, spatial balance, systematic governance, and dual-pronged efforts,” China coordinates flood and disaster prevention, water resource conservation, ecological protection and restoration, and water environment management. By leveraging just 6% of the world’s freshwater resources, China ensures access to clean water for nearly 20% of the global population, making a substantial contribution to the realization of the United Nations’ 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
