The Toronto Congress Centre is located in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, near Toronto Pearson International Airport, and is a multi-functional convention center. The exhibition center opened in 1972, and after a major expansion and renovation in 2002, its exhibition area nearly doubled from the original 260,000 square feet(24,000 square meters). The center currently has over 548,000 square feet(50,900 square meters) of exhibition and meeting space. The Congress Centre is closely linked to Canada's aviation history. In the 1950s, the site of the Congress Centre was home to Orenda Engines Limited, which developed the Iroquois jet engine for the Avro Arrow fighter aircraft. In 1971, a group of private investors purchased the land from DeHavilland, transforming it into the major multi-purpose facility it is today.
