Kentucky International Convention center
The Kentucky International Convention Center, formerly the Federal Convention Center, is a large multi-purpose facility located in Louisville, Kentucky, United States. It, along with the Kentucky Exposition Center, serves as a venue for conventions and events in the Louisville area. Built on the site of the former Taylor Yard, it opened in 1977. After two years of expansion and renovation, the facility reopened in August 2018.
Although the convention center does not have permanent facilities, it has hosted various sporting events, including the Ohio Valley Conference Men's Basketball Tournament in 2002 and the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship from 1995 to 2000. It also hosted selected women's basketball games of the University of Louisville from the 1989-90 season through the 1992-93 season, and again in the 1994-95, 2000-01, and 2008-09 seasons. A hall in the facility was temporarily converted into an arena with approximately 7000 seats. This facility should not be confused with Louisville Gardens, which was known as the Convention Center or Louisville Convention Center in the 60s and 70s. Louisville Gardens took its current name after the Kentucky International Convention Center was built in 1975.
