Sands Expo & Convention Center

  The Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas is a large convention center that opened in 1990 and is one of the most advanced multi-purpose venues in the world. It has a total exhibition area of 209,000 square meters and 144 meeting rooms (over 24,300 square meters), each capable of accommodating more than 2,500 people, making it the second-largest convention center in the world.

  The Sands Expo in Las Vegas was launched by Sands Corporation in 1990, making it the only privately owned and operated convention center in the United States at the time. It is frequently used for conventions booked near the nearby Venetian and Palazzo hotels and casinos(owned by the same company), serving as overflow space for events exceeding the capacity of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

  In 2008, the Sands Expo announced an expansion. The first phase will add another level to the existing building and construct a new two-million-square-foot convention center built on land owned by Sands. The employee parking lot of Wynn Las Vegas will be between the two conventions, connected by a long pedestrian bridge. Additionally, half of the existing building will be covered by a new condominium tower and hotel, further increasing the already sizable complex that also includes the Venetian and Palazzo.
