Dalian Pilot Free Trade Zone International Exhibition Center

The Dalian Pilot Free Trade Zone Administrative Committee has learned that the Dalian Pilot Free Trade Zone ranked third in the world and first in the Asia-Pacific region in the 2021 Global Top Free Trade Zones rankings released by FDI magazine, a subsidiary of the Financial Times.

Among the top ten free trade zones this year, two Chinese free trade zones were selected, with the Dalian Pilot Free Trade Zone ranking third and the Shanghai Waigaoqiao Bonded Zone ranking fourth. The Dubai DMCC Free Trade Zone ranked first, and the second was the Mauritius Free Port.

FDI magazine commented: The Dalian Pilot Free Trade Zone is the largest free trade zone in the northern region of China, with more than 27,000 active small and medium-sized enterprises. The area inherits the tradition of promoting policy reforms and industrial innovation since the pioneering areas of China started in the 1980s, and in terms of reducing carbon emissions, the Dalian Pilot Free Trade Zone relies on the hydrogen energy industrial park layout to follow the pace of China's 'carbon neutrality by 2060' strategy. In addition, the area assists in the turnaround of Haier refrigerators, a Chinese company, in the transformation of an outward-oriented economy to a 'dual circulation' model. In 2020, production increased against the trend, up 37% year-on-year, despite the impact of the epidemic. In terms of infrastructure, it has completed the upgrade of two comprehensive bonded areas, built the Free Trade Zone International Exhibition Center, and will benefit from the proximity to the new Dalian airport in the future.
