The Eco Park in New Town, Rajarhat, Kolkata, West Bengal, India, is the largest park in India to date. Located on a land area of 480 acres (190 hectares), it is surrounded by 104 acres (42 hectares) of water bodies with an island in the middle. This park was conceptualized by the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, in July 2011. The Earth Explorium at the Eco Park was constructed in December 2008, designed by Mrs. Ambika Soni. It is a permanent exhibition housed in a hemispherical building spread across two floors, showcasing details of the ground floor and the northern and southern hemispheres. The exhibition area at the Eco Park spans 1.9 million square feet, suitable for hosting various large-scale exhibitions: particularly floral shows, horticultural exhibitions, environmental fairs, etc.
