Bahrain International Airport is the international airport of the Kingdom of Bahrain, located on Muharraq Island northeast of the capital city of Manama. It is approximately 7 kilometers from the city center and is the only civil airport in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It serves as a major hub for Gulf Air, the national airline of Bahrain, and Bahrain Air. It was also the first international airport in the Gulf region.
Since 2008, Bahrain International Airport has been operated and managed by Bahrain Airport Company (BAC). The airport sits at an elevation of 2 meters (6 feet) above sea level. It features two asphalt runways: Runway 12R/30L which is 2530 meters long and 45 meters wide, and Runway 12L/30R which is 3956 meters long and 60 meters wide. As the main gateway to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Bahrain International Airport serves passenger and cargo flights operated by more than 30 airlines worldwide.
