The Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin, USA(formerly Dane County Memorial Coliseum) is a multi-building complex located in Madison, Wisconsin. It consists of 164 acres (0.66 square kilometers) of green space, including 255,000 square feet (23,700 square meters) of exhibition halls, the 10,000-seat Veterans Memorial Coliseum, 29 acres (0.12 square kilometers) of Willow Island, and 22,000 square feet (2,000 square meters) of arena. After completing various phases of planning in 2013, the Danish government announced on November 26 that it would award a $20.7 million contract to Miron Construction for the construction of two new multipurpose pavilions at the Alliant Energy Center. The total area of the pavilions is 290,000 square feet, replacing the existing 9 agricultural barns. Work began on the project after the Midwest Horse Fair in April 2014, and was completed before the 2014 World Dairy Expo in late September. The center hosts over 1 million people annually for over 500 events, ranging from local meetings and banquets to large-scale sporting events and major concerts.
