The China-Pakistan Friendship Centre, built by the Chinese government, is located in the largest urban park in Islamabad, Pakistan's capital. Covering a total area of 4.8 hectares and with a building area of 21,000 square meters, it is a multi-functional complex integrating conference, exhibition, academic exchange, cultural performances, and economic and trade exchanges. It will serve as an important venue for future cultural exchange activities between China and Pakistan. The design of the building incorporates elements from both China and Pakistan, with a strong modern feel. Inside, there are facilities such as an auditorium with 818 seats, meeting rooms, reading halls, restaurants, and a hotel with 102 beds. This center will be an important venue for future cultural exchange activities between the two countries.
The China-Pakistan Friendship Centre, which embodies the deep friendship between the people of China and Pakistan, was fully funded by the Chinese government. During President Hu Jintao's visit to Pakistan in 2006, the two governments signed a project agreement. The groundbreaking ceremony took place during Premier Wen Jiabao's visit to Pakistan in 2005. The groundbreaking ceremony for the China-funded China-Pakistan Friendship Centre was held in Islamabad, Pakistan's capital, attended by nearly 200 people from all walks of life in both countries, including Pakistani Minister of Planning and Development Shahbudin, Secretary of the Ministry of Culture Rafi, and Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Luo Zhaohui.
The China-Pakistan Friendship Centre, constructed by the Shanghai Construction Group under the Chinese government's funding, will be managed by Pakistan's Ministry of Culture upon completion. The centre is a true testament to the enduring friendship between China and Pakistan, providing a great place for Pakistani people to learn about China and its culture. Rafi stated that the construction of the China-Pakistan Friendship Centre would mark a new milestone in the history of friendly relations between the two countries, and it is the best gift that the Chinese government and people have given to the Pakistani people.
