Enfidha International Airport
Enfidha International Airport
The Enfidha-Hammamet International Airport is located in Enfidha, Tunisia, approximately 40 kilometers (25 miles) southwest of the town of Hammamet. The airport is primarily used by European airlines to transport passengers to Tunisia's resort destinations.
Construction on the airport began in 2007 and it officially opened on December 1, 2009, with its first flight taking place three days later. The total construction cost was 436 million euros. Originally named after former Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali (1936-2019), the airport's name and image were removed from the terminal building on January 15, 2011, one day after Ben Ali fled the country due to the Tunisian Revolution. The new airport was then renamed to Enfidha-Hammamet International Airport.
