Convention Centre Dublin
Convention Centre Dublin
Dublin Convention Centre overlooks the River Liffey at Spencer Dock. Designed by American-Irish architect Kevin Roche, CCD was shortlisted for the 2010 Engineers Ireland Excellence Awards - Engineering Project of the Year. Completed in September 2010, the convention centre can accommodate 8,000 people and has 22 meeting rooms, including a 2,000-seat auditorium and 4,500 square meters of exhibition and banquet space. It is the world's first carbon-neutral convention center, as it uses low-carbon cement and offsets unavoidable carbon emissions through the purchase of carbon credits according to the Voluntary Carbon Standard; it also features a heat wheel heat recovery system and an ice thermal storage unit to provide air conditioning for the building.
