The Tokyo Big Sight GYM-EX in Tokyo, Japan, was constructed as a venue for gymnastics competitions during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. It has now been converted into an exhibition center by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to promote business activities of small and medium-sized enterprises in Tokyo.
Located in the Aomi area of Koto Ward, Tokyo, Japan, the Tokyo Big Sight GYM-EX is a multi-purpose indoor arena and stadium. Koto Ward is one of the 23 special wards of Tokyo, and it is also a satellite city. The sports complex is located in the southern part of the Tokyo metropolitan area, adjacent to Tokyo Bay.
Construction of the venue took place from November 2017 to October 2019, spanning 23.5 months, and it officially opened on October 29, 2019, specifically for the 2020 Summer Olympics and Paralympics. The construction cost was 20.5 billion yen, with a total floor area of 21,261 square meters over three floors (with the arena on the top floor), totaling 39,194 square meters. The arena can accommodate up to 12,000 people, with some areas temporarily expanded through additional seating.
