展会简介
The Exhibition Value of the Farnborough International Airshow
- One of the largest and longest-running premier events in the global aerospace and defense sectors. First held in 1920 and organized by the British Aeronautical Association, the Farnborough International Airshow takes place biennially in the town of Farnborough, southwest of London. It ranks as the world’s second-largest aerospace exhibition, surpassed only by the Paris Air Show in scale and renown. Since relocating to Farnborough in 1948 and opening to the public for the first time, the show has adopted a biennial schedule, alternating with the Paris Air Show. The 2026 edition will mark the largest event in its 78-year history, featuring a sixth exhibition hall added after all booths sold out 12 months in advance, with 63% of exhibitors hailing from international markets. Widely recognized within the industry as a leading indicator of global aerospace sector trends and a pivotal gateway for companies seeking to expand into international markets.
- A one-stop platform covering the entire aerospace value chain. The exhibition encompasses every segment of the industry, including civil aviation—wide-body aircraft, narrow-body jets, regional airliners, and business jets—military aviation—fighter jets, transport aircraft, early-warning systems, and unmanned aerial vehicles—as well as aerospace engines, onboard systems, advanced materials, space technologies, drone systems, advanced air mobility solutions, and cutting-edge space technologies. From commercial aviation giants such as Boeing and Airbus to defense contractors like Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman, and spanning traditional aerospace manufacturing through emerging fields like electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and hydrogen-powered propulsion, exhibitors can engage in comprehensive interactions—from technology showcases and brand exposure to business negotiations—all under one roof.
- Precise matchmaking with global key buyers and government decision-makers. The 2024 edition attracted over 1,200 exhibitors from 44 countries, generating £81.5 billion in transaction value and securing orders for 260 commercial aircraft. The 2026 event is expected to bring together 1,500 exhibiting companies and 100,000 professional visitors. In 2024, the show hosted 93 military representatives from 63 countries and regions, with 94% hailing from outside the UK. Attendees include procurement decision-makers from global aircraft manufacturers, defense ministry officials, airline executives, space agency representatives, investment firms, and other core customer segments.
- Innovative highlights at the 2026 edition. For the first time, this year’s show introduces a dedicated zone for small and medium-sized defense enterprises, targeting high-potential international companies with annual revenues below £10 million. This initiative offers unique opportunities for direct engagement with global defense supply chains, sponsored by Babcock International, a FTSE 100–listed defense contractor. Concurrently, the Enterprise Gateway program will be launched—a three-day, expert-led initiative featuring practical workshops and on-site roadshow sessions covering procurement, regulations, export strategies, financing, and more.
- A Cutting-Edge Hub for Technological Innovation and Industry TrendsThe show will feature a dedicated Sustainable Aviation Zone, showcasing green aviation advancements such as net-zero technologies, sustainable aviation fuels, electric propulsion systems, and carbon offset strategies. The Space Pavilion has been further expanded to encompass satellite technologies, launch services, and orbital infrastructure, in collaboration with the European Space Agency, the UK Space Agency, and private-sector space companies. Meanwhile, the Advanced Air Mobility section will present eVTOL aircraft demonstrations and conceptual urban air mobility infrastructure. The Digital Transformation and AI Zone will highlight AI-driven maintenance, predictive analytics, autonomous systems, cybersecurity, and digital twin technologies.
- In-Depth Connections Through High-Profile Forums and Industry ResourcesParallel to the exhibition, the Global Defence Forum will convene—featuring closed-door briefings and panel discussions focused on interoperability, supply chain resilience, and strategic deterrence—alongside the FIA Future Lab, an innovation incubator highlighting early-stage technologies, university spin-offs, and collaborative R&D initiatives. Daily flight demonstrations will also take place, featuring fighter jets, commercial airliners, and aerobatic teams.
- The UK’s Strategic Location and Industrial AdvantagesHeld at the Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre, the event is situated within England’s southeastern aerospace cluster. As a global aerospace powerhouse, the UK is home to industry giants such as Airbus, Rolls-Royce, and others. Leveraging its strategic position as a worldwide hub for aviation innovation, the Farnborough Airshow provides exhibitors with a premier platform to engage with European and international markets.
- Youth Talent Development DayOn the final day of the show (July 24), “Pioneers of Tomorrow,” a STEM-themed event, will welcome thousands of young participants. Exhibitors, acting as “Champions of Tomorrow,” will directly showcase industry opportunities to the next generation of talent, offering career fairs, digital recruitment boards highlighting apprenticeship programs, graduate schemes, and entry-level positions, as well as competitive activities. This initiative ranks among the longest-running STEM programs in the aerospace sector, addressing critical skills gaps within the industry.
