The Exhibition Value of Metalloobrabotka in Moscow, Russia

  • Russia’s and Eastern Europe’s Largest and Most Authoritative Trade Fair for Machine Tools and Metalworking: Since its inception in 1984, Metalloobrabotka has been successfully held for 25 editions, establishing itself as the leading exhibition for machine tools and metalworking in Russia and Eastern Europe. Organized by the Moscow International Exhibition Company and supported by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, and the European Association of Machine Tool Industries, it is recognized as one of the world’s top ten machinery trade fairs and holds prestigious certifications from UFI (Global Association of the Exhibition Industry) and RUEF (Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs).
  • A One-Stop Platform Covering the Entire Industry Chain: The fair encompasses the full spectrum of the metalworking industry, including metalworking equipment and technologies, metal-cutting machines, casting and welding equipment, additive manufacturing and 3D printing, industrial robots and automation, CNC systems and software, metrology and inspection devices, as well as components and molds. From traditional machine tools to smart factory solutions, and from laser technologies to Industry 4.0 applications, exhibitors can engage in comprehensive business matchmaking—spanning technology showcases, brand exposure, and commercial negotiations.
  • Precise Access to Key Buyers and Decision-Makers in Russia and Eastern Europe: The 2025 edition attracted 1,249 exhibiting companies from eight countries, drawing 45,690 professional visitors. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin attended the event in person, while high-ranking officials such as Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov and Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov were also present, underscoring the fair’s strategic importance within Russia’s industrial landscape. Exhibitors gain direct access to procurement decision-makers, heads of industrial enterprises, and technical experts from Russia and the CIS, enabling highly effective business connections.
  • Unique Value for Chinese Enterprises: A Strategic Engine for Entering the Russian Market: Amid shifting international dynamics, Russia has imposed restrictions on imports of CNC equipment from the EU, driving an explosive surge in China’s exports of machine tools to Russia. In 2023, China’s exports of machine tools to Russia reached US$1.22 billion, up 168% year over year, with Russia surpassing the United States to become China’s largest export market for machine tools and tooling. Leveraging their cost-effectiveness and economies of scale, Chinese products continue to make inroads into mid-to-high-end segments. Metalloobrabotka serves as the optimal trade platform for Chinese machine tool and metalworking companies seeking to penetrate Russia and the broader CIS region, with a notable increase in the share of Chinese exhibitors—accounting for 29% of all participants at the 2025 event.
  • A Vanguard for Technological Innovation and Industry Trends: At the fair, intelligent machine tool systems, automated production lines, industrial robots, AI and digital twin technologies, and additive manufacturing are among the most prominent topics. The 2025 edition will debut WhoMatch, an AI-powered business-matching platform designed to help exhibitors connect precisely with potential clients. Concurrently, more than 40 specialized conferences will be held, addressing cutting-edge issues such as Industry 4.0, robotics, additive manufacturing, and digital transformation. These events provide exhibitors with invaluable insights into technological trends shaping the Russian and global metalworking industries.
  • In-Depth Networking through High-Level Forums and Industry Resources: Alongside the main exhibition, 41 additional events will take place, including the International Conference on Industrial Investment and Development, the Russian Subcontracting and Engineering Exchange, and the Industry 4.0 Implementation Forum. With deep participation from government bodies such as the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and chambers of commerce, these activities offer exhibitors strategic opportunities to engage directly with policymakers. The proportion of local Russian exhibitors has increased significantly, with over 830 Russian companies participating in 2025—an increase of 5.4% year over year—reflecting the revitalization of Russia’s machine tool manufacturing sector driven by new industrial technologies.
  • Moscow’s Geographical and Industrial Advantages: As Russia’s political, economic, transportation, and technological hub, Moscow is home to Expocentre, the country’s largest international exhibition venue. Russia ranks second globally in aluminum production and fifth in crude steel output, with the metalworking industry serving as the third-largest industrial sector after oil and gas. Strong demand for machine tool equipment across automotive, steel, machinery, aerospace, and defense sectors provides exhibitors with vast market opportunities.
