The Value of Exhibiting at the Shanghai Multimodal Container Transport Exhibition
- Intermodal Asia is the largest and most influential specialized event for container transport logistics in Asia, co‑organized by the China Container Industry Association (CCIA) and Informa Markets. Since its inception in 2014, it has been held more than ten times and is widely regarded by the industry as a leading indicator for the global container shipping sector and a core hub for the Asia‑Pacific multimodal transport value chain. The exhibition enjoys strong support from CIMC, the world’s largest container manufacturer. In 2025, it attracted over 100 exhibitors and tens of thousands of industry decision-makers and experts from more than 60 countries and regions.
- The core value of exhibiting lies in its role as a platform that precisely connects global container shipping and multimodal transport resources, along with its highly concentrated pool of professional buyers. The 2025 edition drew professional audiences from over 60 countries, representing a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including shipping lines, port terminals, shipping agents, technology providers, container manufacturers, container traders, and logistics service providers. The 2026 show is scheduled for April 22–24 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition Center and is expected to attract more than 10,000 professional visitors from over 70 countries, including executives from shipping companies, port authorities, railway operators, container manufacturers, and logistics technology providers.
- The exhibition provides a one‑stop commercial platform covering the entire container transport value chain. Exhibits span key areas such as container products and services, logistics, tracking and monitoring technologies, cold chain, grading, insurance, ports, and terminals. Dedicated zones were set up for eight thematic areas, including smart logistics equipment, intelligent containers, new‑energy refrigerated containers, and AI‑powered supply chain solutions. Industry leaders such as CIMC, COSCO Kansai Paint, Xinhua Chang Group, Container xChange, Touax Container Leasing, and JD Logistics have all confirmed their participation.
- The exhibition aligns with the three major industry trends of greening,智能化, and digitalization, establishing itself as a cutting‑edge venue for deep integration among industry, academia, research, and application. With the theme “Innovation in Collaboration, Smart Chains for the Future,” the 2025 event hosted over 20 specialized forums, focusing on hot topics such as “AI‑Empowered Smart Ports,” “Latest Advances in Global Green Shipping,” and “Strategies for Multimodal Transport Operators to Cut Costs, Improve Quality, and Boost Efficiency.” The China Container Supply Chain Development Report (2024), released on the first day of the show, highlighted that China’s container output reached a record 8.1 million TEUs in 2024 and introduced a dedicated chapter on green and low‑carbon development, underscoring that sustainable practices will dominate the sector over the next decade.
- For Chinese enterprises, the exhibition serves as a strategic gateway to expand into global markets, connect with international resources, and showcase innovative capabilities. Compared with the previous edition, the proportion of international exhibitors at the 2025 show increased by 15%, and the area allocated to new‑energy solutions grew by 40%, reflecting the accelerated green transformation of the global shipping industry. A dedicated “Belt and Road” multimodal transport zone was established, where China–Europe Railway Express operators and the ASEAN Port Alliance signed multiple cooperation agreements. Exhibiting companies can leverage this platform to access global procurement networks and seize opportunities in the智能化, green, and digital evolution of the container transport industry.
