The Exhibition Value of Shanghai World Packaging Exhibition (SWOP)
- Shanghai World Packaging Exhibition (SWOP) is an affiliate of interpack, the world’s leading trade fair for processing and packaging machinery. Leveraging the global network resources of Messe Düsseldorf, SWOP has grown into one of Asia’s most influential events in the packaging industry. Co-organized by Messe Düsseldorf (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd., the exhibition is held annually at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. Since its inception in 2015, it has remained committed to advancing with the times and resonating with industry trends, deeply cultivating eight major end-use sectors—including food, beverages, pharmaceuticals, and daily chemicals—while providing a one-stop platform for showcasing innovations and facilitating business transactions across the global packaging value chain.
- The core value of participating lies in its platform‑wide coverage of the entire packaging value chain and its channel advantage in precisely connecting exhibitors with global buyer networks. The exhibition systematically presents end-to-end solutions, spanning packaging machinery, material innovation, packaged products, label printing, and packaging design, with particular emphasis on three key segments: plastic packaging container production equipment, intelligent packaging systems, and packaging materials and finished products. Supported by the interpack alliance’s global network, SWOP annually brings together international pavilions from Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, and other countries, offering exhibiting companies a strategic gateway to engage directly with global decision‑makers in procurement.
- SWOP has established an international platform that connects the global packaging ecosystem, with its level of internationalization steadily increasing. As a member of the interpack alliance, SWOP fully integrates professional resources from the global processing and packaging industries, delivering one-stop solutions to end‑users in sectors such as food, beverage, pharmaceuticals, and daily chemicals. In 2025, overseas visitors accounted for 17.5% of the total, with professionals from 122 countries and regions attending to source supplies, underscoring the exhibition’s strong international appeal.
- Keeping pace with three major industry trends—artificial intelligence and digital packaging, sustainable materials and circular design, as well as lightweight and personalized solutions—SWOP has created a technological hub fostering deep integration among industry, academia, research, and application. The exhibition features specialized zones such as the “Smart Scenario Integration” area and the “International Black Tech” showcase, highlighting cutting-edge intelligent and sustainable solutions, including AI‑driven rapid sorting systems, advanced recycling technologies, biodegradable materials, and laser marking machines. Concurrently organized professional events—including the Food Waste Reduction Forum, the Overseas Expansion Strategy Forum, and the Packaging Industry–Academia–Research Conference—provide in-depth discussions on key topics such as global packaging trends, digital transformation, and green packaging.
- For Chinese enterprises, SWOP serves as a strategic gateway for expanding both domestic and international markets, connecting with global resources, and showcasing innovative capabilities. In addition to bringing together leading domestic companies such as Yongchuang, Hualian, Pulisi, Zhongya, and Yuedong, SWOP also attracts internationally renowned brands like Modivik, Mo Shi, KOCH, and Starlinger to compete on the same stage. Through the interpack alliance’s global network, the exhibition provides Chinese firms with a strategic foothold for entering overseas markets. High‑level forums such as “Charting New Horizons in Packaging” focus on emerging market demands in regions like the Middle East, Brazil, and Poland, offering practical experience and strategic support for international expansion. Exhibiting companies can leverage this platform to connect with core global procurement networks, seizing early opportunities in the智能化, green, and globalized transformation of the packaging industry.
