Compared with Western Europe, Russian truck technology—whether in terms of body styling, chassis engineering, or emission standards—remains at a clear disadvantage. With the exception of light-duty trucks, whose designs are relatively modern, medium- and heavy-duty truck bodies reflect the styling trends of Western Europe from the 1980s. Chassis technology closely resembles China’s Steyr platform, while emission regulations lag behind those in China, giving Chinese truck manufacturers strong market access in Russia.
