The Japan International Machine Tool Fair (JIMTOF) is one of the world's top four machine tool exhibitions. Established in 1962, it has been held in Tokyo since 2000. Alongside the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) in Chicago, the European Machine Tool Exhibition (EMO), and the China International Machine Tool Show (CIMT), JIMTOF is globally renowned as one of the "Big Four" machine tool fairs. Its primary objective is to promote the development and trade revitalization of the machine tool industry through international trade and technological exchange of machine tools and related equipment.

The exhibition has seen unprecedented success, attracting exhibitors from 17 countries and regions, including the United States, Israel, Italy, India, the United Kingdom, Australia, Austria, the Netherlands, South Korea, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Taiwan (China), the Czech Republic, China, Germany, and Japan. According to organizer data, the fair welcomed a total of 142,408 visitors, with an average daily attendance of over 20,000.

Reviewing Japan's GDP, machine tool output value, and import/export data reveals that the Japanese machine tool industry correlates with the cyclical changes of Japan's and the global economy, with industry prosperity slightly lagging behind GDP fluctuations. Although the Japanese machine tool sector has experienced six recessions due to macroeconomic factors since 1970, its production value has consistently ranked first globally since surpassing Germany in 1982.
