The Xi'an International 3D Printing Exhibition (IAME) was first held in 2017. Initiated by Academician Lu Bingheng, a distinguished professor of Xi'an Jiaotong University and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, it is led by the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Center, in conjunction with the China Aeronautical Society, the China Mechanical Engineering Society, the China Machinery Manufacturing Technology Association, the National Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing) Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance, the Shaanxi Mechanical Engineering Society, the Shaanxi Aerospace Society, the China Mechanical Engineering Society Additive Manufacturing Technology (3D Printing) Branch, and other organizations. It has received recognition and strong support from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the People's Government of Shaanxi Province, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the China Association for Science and Technology, the French National Technical Academy, Xi'an Jiaotong University, the Shaanxi Association for Science and Technology, and the Xi'an High-Tech Industrial Development Zone Administrative Committee, among other government departments and local governments.

The Xi'an International 3D Printing Exhibition (IAME) aims to implement the spirit of high-quality development of manufacturing in China and the manufacturing power strategy, focusing on the new situation, new opportunities, and new demands of the additive manufacturing (3D printing) industry. It explores new business models and formats for the development of the additive manufacturing (3D printing) industry, creating the most comprehensive and authoritative platform for research, application, education, and industry in the field of additive manufacturing (3D printing) in China and even worldwide.
