The Moscow International Book Fair (MIBF) is the largest and most influential book trade fair in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). It primarily aims to promote international book‑rights trading and safeguard intellectual property.It provides a platform for domestic and international publishers, booksellers, and distributors to conduct business negotiations.

At the MIBF, rights‑acquisition officers from various publishing houses attend to negotiate or directly acquire rights to foreign‑language editions and translated works, while numerous literary agents seek out suitable overseas publishers. In addition, on the day preceding each fair, the organizers host an International Copyright Managers’ Conference to facilitate in-depth discussions on copyright‑related issues within the trade chain.

The MIBF not only attracts exhibitors from over 100 countries but also showcases more than 300,000 new titles. It has become one of the world’s largest and most influential book‑trade hubs, widely regarded as a barometer of global cultural trends.

Furthermore, the MIBF offers a rich array of events, including thematic conferences, exhibitions, panel discussions, literary salons, and culinary showcases, providing participants with comprehensive opportunities for networking and collaboration. Today, the Moscow International Book Fair has also emerged as a key channel for domestic publishers to export their rights internationally, serving as a major platform for such activities.
