China-ASEAN Education Exchange WeekProfile
The China–ASEAN Education Exchange Week, a high-level international exchange initiative between China and ASEAN member states, serves as an important platform for further deepening the China–ASEAN Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. It has played a positive role in advancing educational cooperation, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people friendship between Guizhou Province and ASEAN, while fostering pragmatic collaboration across multiple sectors.
Since its inception in 2008, the Exchange Week has attracted participation from nearly 90 countries and regions along the Belt and Road Initiative, more than 8,000 institutions, and over 54,000 guests. Guizhou has established cooperative relationships with over 90 universities and educational institutions in ASEAN and other Belt and Road partner countries, and has set up 17 overseas education and training centers in ASEAN nations. To date, it has hosted 20,900 international students from ASEAN countries, accounting for more than 60% of all international students studying in the province. Meanwhile, through the platform of the Education Exchange Week, economic and trade ties among participating parties have grown increasingly close, resulting in the implementation of numerous mutually beneficial projects and the achievement of a wide range of practical outcomes.
This year’s Exchange Week is themed “Harnessing Smart Education to Better Support the Building of a Community of Shared Future,” adopting an integrated model that combines concentrated events during the opening phase with year-round, ongoing activities. The aim is to propel bilateral educational cooperation toward greater depth and broader scope.
During the opening period, 35 key sector-specific events will be launched, while throughout the year, 60 regular thematic activities will be held domestically and in ASEAN countries including Thailand, Cambodia, and Malaysia. Among these, six events will be independently organized by local ASEAN institutions, marking a shift in cooperation from “unidirectional outreach” to “mutual co‑construction and shared benefits.”
Since its establishment, the China–ASEAN Education Exchange Week has yielded substantial achievements in areas such as personnel exchanges, educational collaboration, and scientific research partnerships, earning high recognition from leaders at both national and international levels.
China-ASEAN Education Exchange Week tickets are e-tickets. Mainland China visitors must complete online pre-registration with real-name ID verification; overseas visitors must use passport verification; Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan visitors must use their travel permit.
