Shanghai International Fastener Industry Expo

The 2025 Shanghai International Fastener Industry Exhibition (Afastener) was successfully held from May 28 to 30 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center. Co-organized by the Fastener Branch of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Machinery and Electronic Products and the Shanghai Fastener Industry Association, the event was themed “Smart Manufacturing of Fasteners—Connecting the Future,” making it the most significant annual platform for technological exchange and business matchmaking in the global fastener industry. Concurrent with the exhibition were a Global Fastener Industry Development Summit, a Fastener Technology Seminar, an International Buyer‑Supplier Matchmaking Session, and other related activities.

With an exhibition area of 30,000 square meters, the show brought together over 600 exhibiting companies from more than 20 countries and regions, including China, Germany, the United States, Japan, South Korea, Italy, India, Vietnam, Thailand, and others. The exhibitor lineup featured leading domestic fastener manufacturers such as Jinyi Industrial, Zhejiang Changhua, Shanghai Ditte, Changshu Standard Parts, and Ningbo Jinding, alongside internationally renowned brands like ITW (, Bossard (Germany), and Nitto Seiko (Japan). Over the three-day event, the exhibition welcomed more than 25,000 professional visitors from over 80 countries and regions worldwide, with international buyers accounting for over 35% of attendees.

The finished fastener product zone emerged as the highlight of this year’s show. Jinyi Industrial showcased its “High‑Strength Bolt Series” and “Automotive Fastener Series,” widely used in automotive, rail transit, wind power, and other sectors. Zhejiang Changhua presented its “Engine Fasteners” and “Chassis Fasteners,” which have already been integrated into the supply chains of several joint‑venture automobile OEMs. Shanghai Ditte exhibited its “Anti‑Loosening Fastener Series,” featuring a specialized thread design suitable for high‑vibration environments. Many companies noted that, driven by the growth of new‑energy vehicles and high‑end manufacturing, demand for high‑strength, high‑precision fasteners continues to rise.

The fastener equipment zone also drew considerable attention. Ningbo Sijin unveiled its “Multi‑Station Cold Forging Press Series,” capable of producing complex‑shaped fasteners with high efficiency and material utilization. Zhejiang Youxin displayed its “High‑Speed Thread Rolling Machines” and “Tapping Machines,” ideal for mass production of standard fasteners. Shanghai Chunri introduced its “Fully Automated Fastener Packaging Line,” integrating counting, weighing, and packaging functions. Several equipment manufacturers emphasized that the fastener industry is accelerating its transition toward automation and intelligent manufacturing, resulting in strong demand for energy‑efficient forming equipment and automated production lines.

The fastener materials zone garnered significant interest. Baosteel exhibited its “Cold‑Forged Steel Series” and “Alloy Steel Series,” extensively utilized in various fastener manufacturing applications. Shagang Group showcased its “High‑Quality Carbon Structural Steel” and “Alloy Structural Steel” wire rods. Taigang Stainless Steel and Qingshan Iron & Steel highlighted their stainless steel fastener materials. Multiple material suppliers reported that downstream customers are increasingly demanding enhanced strength, corrosion resistance, and lightweight properties, underscoring the vast potential of the high‑end materials market.

The International Buyer‑Supplier Matchmaking Session yielded substantial results. Held on the second day of the exhibition, the session invited over 100 overseas buyers from more than 30 countries and regions—including Germany, the United States, Japan, South Korea, India, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, and Turkey—to engage in one‑on‑one discussions with exhibiting companies. Procurement needs spanned automotive fasteners, construction fasteners, mechanical fasteners, stainless steel fasteners, and other categories. Preliminary estimates indicate that the session resulted in intended purchase commitments exceeding US$150 million. A buyer from Germany remarked, “Afastener is Asia’s premier fastener procurement platform, where Chinese fasteners offer clear advantages in cost‑effectiveness and delivery timelines.”

The Global Fastener Industry Development Summit brought together industry leaders. With the theme “Innovation‑Driven, High‑Quality Development,” the summit featured keynote speeches by the President of the Fastener Branch of the China Machinery General Parts Industry Association, the President of the Shanghai Fastener Industry Association, representatives from the German Fastener Association, and the General Manager of Jinyi Industrial, among others. Discussions centered on topics such as “Globalization Trends in the Fastener Industry,” “Opportunities and Challenges for New‑Energy Vehicle Fasteners,” and “Paths Toward Intelligent Manufacturing of Fasteners.” Experts agreed that the global fastener market is undergoing a transformation toward premiumization, intelligence, and sustainability, with technological innovation and brand building serving as critical levers for enhancing corporate competitiveness.

As global manufacturing shifts toward higher value‑added segments and supply chains undergo restructuring, the fastener industry stands at the cusp of new opportunities. As the world’s largest specialized fastener trade fair, Afastener has become a strategic platform for companies to unveil new products, connect with customers, gain insights into emerging trends, and expand their global footprint. The next edition of Afastener is scheduled to take place in May 2026 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center.
