Highlights of the Shanghai Fastener Exhibition

  • One of the World’s Three Major Fastener Exhibitions: After fifteen editions, the 2025 event will boast an actual exhibition space of 65,000 square meters, making it the largest specialized fastener show globally, on par with the Stuttgart Fair in Germany and the Las Vegas Show in the United States. Organized by authoritative bodies such as the Fastener Branch of the China General Machinery Parts Industry Association and supported by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Metals & Minerals, the exhibition enjoys industry-wide authority and credibility.
  • End-to-End Coverage Across the Entire Value Chain: The exhibition is strategically divided into specialized pavilions aligned with industry segments: Halls 1.1 and 2.1 house finished fasteners—including standard components, automotive/aviation/wind-energy–specific fasteners, and stamped parts—while Hall 3 hosts equipment, wire products, molds, and consumables, such as cold heading machines, thread‑rolling machines, heat‑treatment equipment, testing instruments, surface‑treatment solutions, and raw materials. Covering everything from materials to finished products and from machinery to services, the event provides comprehensive end-to-end coverage of the “product–equipment–material–application” value chain.
  • A Hub for International Resource Networking: In 2024, the exhibition attracted over 860 exhibitors from 32 countries and regions, with international participation accounting for 35% of the total and overseas visitors exceeding 15%. Countries including Germany, Japan, and Italy participated through national pavilions, showcasing cutting-edge advancements such as advanced cold‑heading technologies and titanium alloy fasteners. For 2026, the event anticipates drawing more than 25,000 professional visitors from over 100 countries and regions.
  • A Strategic Platform for Emerging Sectors: Aligned with the growing demands of emerging industries—including new‑energy vehicles, aerospace, the low‑altitude economy, and renewable energy—the exhibition focuses on high‑strength, lightweight, and corrosion‑resistant fasteners. In 2026, a dedicated “New‑Energy Fasteners Zone” and a “Digital Solutions Pavilion” will be introduced, highlighting high‑performance products tailored for photovoltaic, wind‑power, and energy‑storage applications, alongside AI‑based inspection systems and automated packaging solutions.
  • High‑Level Forums Empowering Industry Leaders: Concurrent events include the Fastener & Joining Conference (with sub‑forums on new‑energy vehicles and rail transit), the National Fastener Distributors’ Convention, the Steel for Fasteners Forum, and the Fourth National Anti‑Loosening Technology Forum, inviting key end‑users such as SAIC Volkswagen, Beiqi Foton, Guangzhou Metro, and CRRC Inspection, as well as leading raw‑material suppliers like Baowu Steel and Xingang Steel to engage deeply.
  • Effective Procurement and Equipment Subsidy Mechanisms: At the inaugural Fastener Equipment Procurement Festival in 2025, more than 340 units of equipment were sold on-site, totaling over RMB 53 million. The second edition in 2026 will further increase subsidy support, introducing special incentives for multi‑station cold‑heading machines, with projections of selling over 400 units worth more than RMB 60 million. Simultaneously, over 200 one‑on‑one procurement matchmaking sessions are scheduled, achieving a transaction rate exceeding 60%.
  • Global Scale Combined with Specialized Services: By 2026, the sixteenth edition of the exhibition will expand its footprint to 70,000 square meters, bringing together more than 1,400 companies. The exhibitor mix continues to improve, with repeat participation rates among industry leaders steadily rising year after year. Leveraging over two decades of industry expertise accumulated through the Chinese Screw Network, the event provides fastener manufacturers with a systematic decision‑making platform—from technology benchmarking to production capacity planning.

Review

In June 2025, the Shanghai Fastener Exhibition (FES 2025) concluded successfully at the National Exhibition and Convention Center. After fifteen years of dedicated development, the event has grown into one of the world’s three leading specialized fastener exhibitions, serving as a vital trade platform that connects domestic and international markets.

This edition spanned 60,000 square meters, bringing together over 1,200 exhibiting companies and attracting 21,781 domestic professional visitors and 1,136 overseas professionals for business discussions. Overseas attendees came from Asia, Europe, North America, South America, Oceania, and Africa, with Asia accounting for 52.2%, Europe for 21.3%, and Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan for 17.9%, underscoring the exhibition’s global reach. Among domestic visitors, East China represented 73.2% and North China 9.7%, highlighting a pronounced industry clustering effect. In terms of business roles, 35.1% were involved in fastener trading, 26.7% in fastener manufacturing, 23.5% in end‑user applications, and 9.4% in equipment supply. Notably, 95.6% of attendees were decision makers or key stakeholders, with purchasing functions accounting for 18.2%, management roles for 46.3%, and sales functions for 23.1%. Among end users, the automotive and auto‑parts sector accounted for 34.1%, construction machinery 8.3%, photovoltaics 6.5%, building construction 5.6%, and electronics/electrical equipment 5.1%, covering core segments of high‑end manufacturing.

Visitor interest in product categories revealed strong demand for standard fasteners (63.2%), custom‑shaped components (31.4%), automotive fasteners (20.7%), high‑strength fasteners (14.8%), photovoltaic fasteners (9.8%), and wind‑ and nuclear‑energy fasteners (8.4%). The growing need for lightweighting and new‑energy solutions in the automotive sector further underscores the trend toward industrial structural upgrading.

Concurrently held, the inaugural “June Huawang Fastener Equipment Procurement Festival” generated an enthusiastic response, resulting in the sale of more than 340 pieces of equipment over the three-day period—ranging from cold heading machines and nut‑forming machines to thread‑rolling machines, screening devices, and packaging systems—totaling approximately RMB 53 million. This outcome vividly illustrates the market’s pressing demand for modernization and replacement of manufacturing equipment.

Throughout the event, more than ten concurrent activities were organized, including B2B buyer‑matching sessions, the Fourth National Forum on Advanced Anti‑Loosening Technologies for High‑End Fasteners, the FJ Fasteners and Connections Conference, a distributors’ conference, and the “Screw Night” Golden Screw Awards Ceremony, creating a comprehensive platform for technical exchange and commercial collaboration.

FES 2025 once again affirmed its value as a global hub for the fastener industry. Against the backdrop of manufacturing transformation and the restructuring of global supply chains, the exhibition provided an efficient platform for technological showcase, business matchmaking, and trend insight.
