Shanghai Leather Show – China International Leather ExhibitionProfile

The ALL CHINA LEATHER EXHIBITION—Shanghai Leather Show is the only exhibition in China that meets international standards. It has long been hailed as an indispensable event for global companies seeking to tap into the vast Chinese market, and it serves as a major focal point for the worldwide leather industry.

Since its inception in 1998, the ALL CHINA LEATHER EXHIBITION—Shanghai Leather Show has attracted tens of thousands of buyers each year, primarily from China’s key provinces renowned for tanning, footwear manufacturing, and leather product production. Today, China’s leather sector stands at the center of global attention, with neighboring countries such as Vietnam and Indonesia driving further growth. As a result, the ALL CHINA LEATHER EXHIBITION has naturally emerged as one of the fastest‑growing leather exhibitions worldwide. China leads the world in several critical dimensions of the leather industry: it boasts the highest global output of finished leather and maintains substantial demand for raw hides, leather chemicals, and leather‑processing machinery. Moreover, China is the world’s largest exporter of footwear, accounting for 40% of global exports, which in turn drives robust demand for finished leather, shoe‑making equipment, and related materials. As the world’s top automobile producer, contributing 30% of global vehicle output, China also exhibits strong demand for automotive leather and interior trim materials.

The ALL CHINA LEATHER EXHIBITION—Shanghai Leather Show is co‑organized by the China Leather Association, the official body representing the world’s leading leather‑producing nations, together with Asia‑Pacific leather trade shows, thereby underscoring its prestigious standing. This exhibition is specifically tailored to the upstream segment of the leather value chain—namely, tanneries—and serves as the premier platform for sourcing raw hides, semi‑finished leathers, leather‑chemical inputs, and processing machinery. Domestic tanneries leverage this venue to negotiate business deals, import raw materials, complete processing, and either export finished leather or supply it to domestic manufacturers for further fabrication. Meanwhile, internationally recognized tanneries use the show to introduce their high‑quality leathers and specialized shoe‑making materials to Chinese footwear and automotive leather importers.

The Exhibition Value of the Shanghai Leather Show

  • The China International Leather Exhibition (ACLE) is Asia’s largest and most influential specialized event for the leather industry. Co‑hosted with the Modern China International Footwear, Bags & Fashion Accessories Show, it forms an integrated international trade fair that spans the entire value chain—from materials, equipment, and chemicals to finished products, and from brands to specialized industrial clusters. Established in 1998 and jointly organized by the China Leather Industry Association and Asia Pacific Leather Fair Ltd., the exhibition has evolved over more than two decades into a global benchmark for industry development and a comprehensive dialogue platform for reshaping the leather supply chain.
  • The core value of participation lies in its platform‑wide coverage of the entire industry chain and its channel advantages for precisely connecting with global procurement networks. The show encompasses every segment of the value chain—raw hides, semi‑finished leathers, finished leathers, chemical inputs, tanning and footwear machinery, as well as footwear, bags, and apparel—creating a complete business loop from raw material sourcing to finished product ordering. Professional buyers hail from over 100 countries and regions, including Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Russia, the United States, Brazil, Japan, South Korea, India, the United Arab Emirates, and many others, providing enterprises with a strategic gateway to efficiently engage with international markets.
  • The exhibition has established an international trade platform that links global markets, bringing together leading industry brands and key players. For 2025, the event will attract nearly 1,000 exhibitors from 27 countries and regions, including nine international pavilions representing Australia, Brazil, France, Italy, Pakistan, Spain, and other nations, as well as 34 domestic regional pavilions showcasing Wenzhou, Jinjiang, Haining, Xinji, Baigou, Shiling, and other distinctive areas. Renowned international raw material suppliers, leading tanneries, top-tier leather chemical companies, and cutting‑edge smart equipment manufacturers will converge, fully demonstrating the exhibition’s strong industry appeal and high level of internationalization.
  • Keeping pace with industry trends toward “green manufacturing and intelligent upgrading,” the exhibition has created a technological hub fostering deep integration among industry, academia, research, and application. Under the theme “Green Manufacturing Leading a New Industry Ecosystem,” the 2025 edition will spotlight pioneering innovations such as chromium‑free eco‑leathers, technologies for recycling tanning waste liquids, wool‑based leathers, and AI‑powered cutting systems. During the event, more than 30 high‑profile activities will be held, including the International Tanning Industry Summit, the 22nd International Footwear Technology Conference, and the China International Designers’ Forum, covering trendsetting discussions, technical seminars, international summits, and new product launches.
  • For Chinese enterprises, this exhibition serves as a strategic gateway to showcase technological prowess, connect with global resources, and expand both domestic and international markets. Leveraging China’s position as the world’s largest producer and consumer of leather, the show offers unparalleled opportunities to engage directly with global purchasing decision‑makers and secure international orders. At the 2025 edition, Shengyuan Company signed nearly 60 contracts on-site, with total order values exceeding RMB 100 million; the Zhaoyuan delegation recorded aggregate transactions surpassing RMB 100 million; and Dongming Tannery saw orders far exceeding expectations. Simultaneously, the exhibition is driving enterprises to transition from “scale expansion” to “value‑driven growth,” and from traditional manufacturing to intelligent manufacturing.

Exhibition Review

The China International Leather Exhibition (ACLE) 2025 was successfully held from September 3 to 5, 2025, at the Shanghai New International Expo Center, running concurrently with the “Modern China” International Footwear, Bags & Fashion Show in the same venue. This edition of the exhibition was co-organized by the China Leather Industry Association and Asia-Pacific Leather Fair Co., Ltd., with the core highlight being “a dual‑exhibition synergy to create the largest-scale, high‑end trade show covering the entire Chinese leather industry chain.”

In terms of scale, the two exhibitions together occupied nine halls, totaling 103,500 square meters of exhibition space—80,500 square meters for the China International Leather Exhibition and 23,000 square meters for the “Modern China” fashion show. The event attracted nearly 1,000 domestic and international exhibitors from 27 countries and regions, including nine international pavilions and 34 specialized regional pavilions. It drew over 35,000 buyers and visitors worldwide, marking a year-on-year increase of more than 12%.

This year’s exhibition featured numerous highlights, with green manufacturing leading a new industry ecosystem. Donghong unveiled its “Zero‑Chromium Eco‑Leather” series; Baosika showcased “leather‑making waste‑liquid recycling technology,” reducing chromium sludge by 70%; and Xinji Meihua introduced “MHWOOLS,” a wool‑based leather boasting 100% bio‑based carbon content while delivering both warmth and antibacterial properties. On the smart‑technology front, Desilong’s C‑166 dual‑head vibrating‑knife cutter supports multi‑material cutting, Aimac’s CNC intelligent cutter boosts leather utilization by 2%, and Longyi’s GXYY‑300A edge‑smoothing machine is equipped with an automatic blade‑sharpening cycle.

Complementary events added vibrancy, creating a feast for industry thought leaders. The 22nd International Footwear Technology Conference focused on the deep integration of AI and the footwear industry; the China International Leather Industry Development Summit brought together experts from multiple countries to discuss industry trends; and the 2025 China International Designers’ Summit explored innovative pathways in design.

The “Modern China” fashion show gathered over 260 renowned domestic and international brands, including leather and fur labels such as Dorota, Sagafurs, and Snow Leopard; footwear giants like Belle, Ecco, and Red Dragonfly; and emerging luggage and bag brands like Xinsiu and Jinshengsi. Concurrent activities included the Chinese debut of international designer brands, an influencer‑selected product festival, and showcases of intangible cultural heritage.

The exhibition yielded impressive results and received enthusiastic industry acclaim. Dongming Leather secured a substantial volume of domestic and international orders, far exceeding expectations; Shengyuan Company signed nearly 60 contracts on-site, with total order value surpassing RMB 100 million; the Zhaoyuan delegation recorded aggregate transactions exceeding RMB 100 million. The Lanshan County delegation closed deals worth RMB 3 million; Nantai Luggage won RMB 400,000 in orders from Russia and South Korea; Junlisi Leather completed a RMB 1.05 million deal with Malaysian partners; and Namai Leather received approximately 8,200 women’s handbag orders.

Exhibiting companies highly praised the platform’s value. Xu Wei, Vice President of Red Dragonfly, noted that this year’s exhibition provided a high‑level international stage, helping domestic brands connect efficiently with global markets. Dawei Company, through discussions with international partners on low‑carbon lightweight materials and chromium‑free tanning technologies, gained a keen sense of the industry’s transformative pulse. Letícia Luft, Project Manager at the Brazilian Leather Industry Center, expressed confidence that leather trade between China and Brazil will continue to flourish.

Attendees generally agreed that the China International Leather Exhibition is not only an excellent platform for brand showcasing and business matchmaking but also a pivotal hub for gaining insights into industry trends and exploring pathways toward green, intelligent transformation.

The 26th China International Leather Exhibition (ACLE 2026) will be held from September 1 to 3, 2026, at the Shanghai New International Expo Center.
