The APAC Wind Energy Summit 2025 was successfully held from September 16 to 18 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre in Australia. Hosted by the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), this year’s summit was themed “Wind Power Prosperity in the Asia-Pacific: Building a Power‑Driven Economy through Large‑Scale Wind Energy and Its Supply Chain,” and stood as the region’s premier annual event for policy dialogue and business matchmaking.

Attendance and International Participation Remained Strong. The summit brought together approximately 150 experts from 20 countries, who engaged in discussions across 35 thematic sessions. Government delegations from Australia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Japan, South Korea, India, Sri Lanka, and other nations were in attendance. Featuring a dual-stage structure—comprising a Strategic Main Stage and a Technical Knowledge Theatre—the event addressed key topics such as market‑shaping policies, floating offshore wind, grid integration, digitalization, and supply chain industrialization.

Industry Leaders Call for Public–Private Collaboration to Accelerate Wind Energy Deployment.In his opening address, GWEC CEO Ben Backwell noted that over the past two years, global wind power capacity additions reached 220 GW, with wind energy now contributing to the energy mix in 124 countries worldwide. 2024 is set to be another record-breaking year for wind deployment; according to BNEF data, wind investment alone has already hit a record $39 billion this year. Backwell emphasized that the Asia-Pacific region will serve as the growth engine driving this transformation, and that nations seizing this opportunity will enhance their competitiveness and secure strategic advantages.

The Japan Wind Power Association actively participated. At the summit’s first afternoon session, “Unlocking Japan’s Offshore Wind Potential: Opportunities and Challenges from an Industry Perspective,” JWPA President Shigeru Akagi served as a panelist, sharing insights into the current state and challenges of Japan’s offshore wind sector. During the event, JWPA also held meetings with GWEC executives and exchanged views with wind energy organizations from Australia, Singapore, and the Philippines, agreeing to continue dialogue on supply chain development in the Asia-Pacific region and on regulatory frameworks designed to promote offshore wind in participating countries.

Chinese enterprises actively engaged. GWEC member Ruike Technology, led by its General Manager and Director of the Design Institute, attended the summit with a delegation, engaging in in-depth discussions with local clients, equipment suppliers, and consulting firms, thereby gaining a comprehensive understanding of Australia’s latest policies, market trends, and technological advancements in the wind and broader renewable energy sectors.

The APAC Wind Energy Summit 2026 will take place from June 9 to 11 at the National Convention Center (NCC) in Hanoi, Vietnam. Co-hosted by the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) and RE+ Events, this summit marks the inaugural implementation of the strategic partnership between GWEC and RE+ Events. The three-day program includes a VIP reception on the evening of June 9, preceding the official opening, followed by two full days of plenary sessions and exhibition displays.

The Launch of the Vietnam Offshore Wind Development Guide Emerges as a Core Highlight of This Year’s Summit. On the summit’s opening day (afternoon of June 9), the “Vietnam Offshore Wind Development Guide Workshop and Report Launch” will be held. Developed jointly by GWEC and specialized consultants, the guide provides developers with practical, end-to-end guidance spanning the entire project lifecycle—from greenfield development to commercial operations. With the implementing decrees under Resolution 253 set to take effect on March 1, 2026, it is anticipated that up to 17 GW of offshore wind projects could commence development in 2026.

The Summit Focuses on Cutting-Edge Issues in Asia-Pacific Wind Energy Development, covering offshore wind, floating wind, onshore wind, hybrid power systems, green hydrogen, Power-to-X technologies, energy storage, and more. By 2030, the Asia-Pacific region is projected to account for 61% of global新增 wind capacity, with total onshore wind capacity expected to double to 1,084 GW, complemented by an additional 122 GW from offshore wind. The summit represents an unmissable annual gathering for wind energy professionals across the Asia-Pacific region.
