The Exhibition Value of the Beijing International Buddhist Products Fair

  • The China (Beijing) Buddhist Products Exhibition is the largest and most influential specialized trade show for Buddhist products in Northern China. Having been successfully held for nine consecutive editions, it is widely recognized within the industry as a leading indicator of trends in the northern Buddhist products sector. Organized by the China National Exhibition Center Group, the fair leverages Beijing’s unique cultural prominence and strategic geographical advantages to create a high‑end platform integrating the distribution of Buddhist products, cross‑cultural exchanges in Buddhist studies, and the study of traditional culture.
  • The core value of participation lies in its role as a precisely targeted platform connecting temples, devotees, and enthusiasts of traditional culture. The exhibition not only invites monks from temples in Beijing and surrounding areas to participate extensively but also draws organized visiting delegations from local Buddhist associations in Shandong, Hebei, Shanxi, Henan, Inner Mongolia, and other provinces, with over a thousand monks attending in total. The professional audience includes temple procurement managers, operators of vegetarian restaurants, institutions dedicated to traditional culture, collectors, and high‑net‑worth individuals, providing exhibitors with highly targeted business‑matching opportunities.
  • The fair has established an international trade platform linking Buddhist countries along the Belt and Road. Delegations from Nepal, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, and other nations have participated year after year, showcasing distinctive offerings such as Nepalese bronze Buddha statues and thangkas, Vietnamese agarwood, and Japanese Buddhist sculptures, fostering vibrant exchanges among diverse Buddhist cultures. With the international exhibition area steadily expanding, the fair provides exhibitors with a strategic gateway to markets along the Belt and Road.
  • Keeping pace with the resurgence of traditional culture and the growing trend toward Zen‑inspired lifestyles, the fair has created a cultural hub that deeply integrates industry, academia, research, and application. Exhibits span the full spectrum, including Buddhist statues, incense utensils, vegetarian health products, Zen tea ware, thangka ritual objects, and culturally inspired souvenirs. Concurrently, more than twenty themed events are held, such as the Beijing Thangka Art Festival, the Incense Culture Exhibition, the Vegetarian Culture Festival, performances of Han‑style ceremonial attire, and tea‑culture showcases. In 2026, the fair will be upgraded to the “Beijing International Traditional Cultural Products and Incense Culture Exhibition,” further focusing on the innovative development and creative transformation of China’s outstanding traditional culture.
  • For Chinese enterprises, this exhibition serves as a strategic gateway to showcase intangible cultural heritage techniques, connect with traditional cultural resources, and tap into the northern market. Industrial clusters such as Putian woodcarving Buddhist statues from Fujian, Jingdezhen porcelain, Zhongshan micro‑smoke incense from Guangdong, and Yongchun stick incense from Fujian participate collectively, adopting a “combined‑forces” approach. Benefiting from Beijing’s rich cultural milieu, exhibitors can use this platform to establish deep connections with key stakeholders—including temples, cultural and museum institutions, and cultural spaces—securing a competitive edge in the era of upgrading consumption of traditional culture.

Review

The 9th China (Beijing) International Buddhist Supplies Expo 2025 was successfully held from November 14 to 17, 2025, at the China International Exhibition Center (Chaoyang Hall). Hosted by the China International Exhibition Center Group and co-organized by Beijing Huagang Exhibition Co., Ltd. and Beijing Zhongsheng Boya International Exhibition Co., Ltd., this event is the annual highlight of the Buddhist supplies industry in Northern China.

In terms of scale, the expo covered an exhibition area of 20,000 square meters, bringing together more than 600 exhibitors from across the country. Over its four-day run, it attracted nearly 38,000 professional visitors and enthusiasts of traditional culture for on-site visits and exchanges. Exhibits spanned a full range of categories, including Buddhist statues, agarwood incenseware, temple supplies, health‑focused vegetarian products, Zen tea utensils, thangka religious artifacts, and seven‑treasure ornaments, collectively showcasing the innovative achievements and cultural depth of the contemporary Buddhist supplies sector.

This edition featured numerous highlights, with original Buddhist sculptures and intangible cultural heritage techniques taking center stage. The expo showcased original Buddhist sculpture works, handcrafted items by inheritors of intangible cultural heritage, thangka masterpieces from Nepal and Regong, vegetarian culture exhibits, traditional cultural goods, tea and tea‑related cultural displays, as well as wellness and therapeutic offerings. The Beijing Thangka Art Festival highlighted exquisite thangkas from the Regong and Nepalese schools, while the Incense Culture Exhibition brought together varieties such as agarwood, sandalwood, and blended incenses, along with incense burners and related accessories. Meanwhile, the Vegetarian Culture Festival drew participation from numerous vegetarian restaurants and organic food enterprises.

Specialized zones and concurrent events offered a rich tapestry of experiences. The expo featured ten thematic zones, including an Artistic Sculpture Zone, a Thangka Art Zone, an Incense Culture Zone, an Ancient Architecture Conservation Zone, a Traditional Furniture Zone, a Zen‑Inspired Lifestyle Zone, a Traditional Cultural Creative Products Zone, a Vegetarian Wellness Zone, a Seven‑Treasure Ornaments Zone, and a Tea and Tea Utensils Zone. Complemented by over twenty themed activities—such as tea‑culture performances, Han‑style ceremonial attire shows, and holistic health‑and‑wellness experiences—visitors were able to personally experience and appreciate the profound richness of traditional culture.

A strong contingent of professional visitors and an international presence enriched the event. The expo drew monks from temples nationwide, operators of vegetarian restaurants, representatives of traditional cultural institutions, collectors, and high‑net‑worth individuals. Delegations from Nepal, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, and other countries presented distinctive Buddhist supplies, underscoring the expo’s international stature.

Outcomes and industry response were highly positive. Exhibiting companies generally reported that this year’s event attracted high‑quality professional visitors with clear purchasing intentions, and that the market for traditional cultural consumption continues to gain momentum. Attendees agreed that the Beijing Buddhist Expo not only serves as a premier platform for the circulation of Buddhist supplies and business matchmaking but also stands as a high‑end venue for promoting Chinese traditional culture and fostering cross‑cultural exchange and innovation.

The 26th Beijing International Exhibition of Traditional Cultural Goods and Incense Culture will be held from November 13 to 16, 2026, at the China International Exhibition Center (Chaoyang Hall). The event is expected to attract more than 600 exhibitors and over 40,000 professional visitors from around the world, featuring specialized sections on traditional crafts and fine arts, incense culture, traditional costumes, creative cultural derivatives, tea culture, and vegetarian culture, thereby continuing to provide an efficient platform for dialogue within the traditional cultural sector.
