展会简介
The Exhibition Value of the Sichuan Chengdu Electric Power Expo
- The Sichuan Chengdu Power Industry Expo (CIPIE) is the largest and most influential event in the power and energy sector in China’s central and western regions. Since its inception in 2003, it has been successfully held for twenty-two editions and is widely recognized by the industry as a leading indicator of China’s power and energy development and a pivotal hub for the central and western power markets.Approved by the Ministry of Commerce, the expo is co-organized by authoritative bodies such as the Power Industry Committee of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the SME Branch of the China Electricity Council, serving as an important platform to implement the national “15th Five-Year Plan” energy strategy and advance the construction of a new-type power system.
- The core value of participation lies in its unique platform that precisely connects the trillion‑yuan power market of central and western China with a highly concentrated pool of professional buyers. As the nation’s largest clean energy base, Sichuan’s energy equipment industry boasts an annual output value exceeding RMB 350 billion, accounting for one-fifth of the national total, while its power generation equipment production has ranked first globally for many consecutive years. The 2026 edition will feature an exhibition space of 33,000 square meters, bringing together over 500 renowned global enterprises and attracting an estimated 60,000 professional visitors. These attendees include procurement decision-makers from State Grid Corporation of China, China Southern Power Grid, the five major power generation groups, and local state-owned energy enterprises, providing exhibiting companies with a strategic gateway to engage directly with the core buyers of this trillion‑yuan power market.
- The expo has established an international platform that links global markets, gathering leading industry brands and cutting-edge innovators. At the 2026 event, key players such as China Energy Group, China Huaneng, China Huadian, State Power Investment Corporation, China Three Gorges Corporation, SDIC Power, State Grid Corporation of China, and China Southern Power Grid—alongside the five major and six minor grid operators and two major construction firms—will be present. Renowned equipment manufacturers including Dongfang Electric, Xuji Electric, Cummins, Han’s Laser, Wokang, Suishi Technology, Jinshengyang, and Mingwei are also expected to make high‑profile appearances. International organizations from more than 30 countries and regions—including Russia, Germany, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, the Philippines, Thailand, Pakistan, Nepal, and Myanmar—will send delegation‑level purchasing teams, further elevating the expo’s international profile.
- The expo aligns with three major industry trends—digital intelligence empowerment, source‑grid‑load‑storage coordination, and green, low‑carbon development—creating a technological powerhouse through deep integration of industry, academia, research, and application. Under the theme “Digital Intelligence Empowering New‑Type Power Systems and Source‑Grid‑Load‑Storage Collaborative Innovation,” the 2026 expo will feature dedicated zones for next‑generation transmission and distribution system development, smart grid digital transformation, international energy storage technologies, supply chain solutions for the Yarlung Tsangpo River hydropower project, international charging and battery‑swap stations, and battery technology and applications. It will also highlight two signature areas: a virtual power plant zone and a showcase of major achievements from the “14th Five-Year Plan” along with a special section on the “15th Five-Year Plan” strategic roadmap. Concurrently, the expo will host over ten specialized conferences, including the China New‑Type Power System and Source‑Grid‑Load‑Storage Collaborative Innovation Conference, the China Energy Storage Innovation and High‑Quality Development Conference, the 2026 China Flow Battery Industry Development Conference, and the Yarlung Tsangpo River Hydropower Project Supply Chain Coordination Meeting, with more than 100 leading experts in the power and energy field participating and over 100 reputable media outlets providing comprehensive coverage.
- For Chinese enterprises, this expo serves as a strategic gateway to expand into the central and western markets, connect with international resources, and showcase their innovative capabilities. State Grid Corporation of China and China Southern Power Grid have announced that fixed asset investments during the “15th Five-Year Plan” period are expected to exceed RMB 5 trillion, ushering in a golden era of development marked by upgrades to the ultra‑high‑voltage backbone grid, urban–rural distribution network modernization, and digital transformation of the power grid. As a key strategic hinterland, Sichuan anticipates that by 2027, revenue generated by its new‑energy industrial chain will surpass RMB 600 billion, while major national projects—such as the downstream hydropower works on the Yarlung Tsangpo River, with a combined investment exceeding RMB 1.2 trillion—are set to take root in the region, igniting a third wave of modernization. Exhibiting companies can leverage this platform to access core procurement resources in central and western China, seizing early opportunities in the digital, green, and international transformation of the power and energy sector.
